I haven’t checked my portal since I realized they received everything. Looking now my FAFSA was updated but to a date in pretty early Feb, when it originally said December.
Does Barnard send an email with your decision? Or do they have you log into your applicant portal? Also does the FAFSA date actually mean anything?
Oof I didnt get an important scholarship for my safety which was going to be why i would turn down barnard if i did get in, but since they’re both now equally expensive!!! Game on!!! The stakes are high!!!
do people who get into Wellesley usually get into Barnard?
Admissions decisions are holistic and different. Barnard has a larger applicant pool and ends up being significantly more difficult to get into because of that (in terms of percentage of applicants who are admitted) – but they are holistic and looking for different factors. So bottom line – some students get into both, some students get accepted to one and not the other. For a very high stat student, the odds of getting into Wellesley would be higher because of Wellesley’s higher admit rate. But a student who doesn’t quite have the stats to get into Wellesley might benefit from Barnard’s holistic approach. (Average SAT/ACT of Wellesley admits trends higher – which would be a reflection of each college’s differing admissions priorities)
^^ Knowing that, I definitely would have applied to a different reach than Wellesley as they seem to value their stats highly.
It feels so strange to think that any of you amazing people might not be accepted, I really hope, after seeing some of you on this thread for so many months, that everyone here has a positive outcome on Friday! I’m so worried I feel sick. I’ve also had five cookies. Who knows what’s responsible.
@musemuse respect! I’ve been binge-watching shows bc my nerves make it impossible to focus on homework. So this should work out great hahaha.
@reinawrites oh my goddd same I have a math test tomorrow and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to retake it just because I can’t stop thinking about it. And I stress eat. A lot. Which helps no one. Tomorrow is going to be hardddd
@musemuse I feeeeeel. Bio test today … with very little brain/willpower for studying last night … a little scared to see that grade.
After today’s Emory rejection, I am SO scared about Barnard. I just know how good of a match I am and I know how happy I’d be there. I’m sooooo nervous.
@musemuse You are so kind! best of luck to all you lovely ladies!
Remember everyone, you will end up where you are supposed to be. I know we all want that to be Barnard, but trust the process. You are all brilliant I’m sure and will thrive wherever you end up!
I am so incredibly nervous and best of luck to you all!
@Kittywitty same situation here! I had known that Barnard didn’t give much financial aid to internationals before I applied but I loved the school way too much to not apply. Even if they reject me (which they likely will), I think it was worth applying for me.
I got rejected from emory yesterday, too! And I’m legacy! It honestly made me extremely worried for all of my other schools, especially this one. Barnard is my top choice, so I am hoping to not be devastated tomorrow.
I was deferred ED and my FAFSA says it was updated on 1/9… It probably means nothing but I think it’s very strange because I had to submit all my financial aid documents all the way back in October.
I was also rejected from Emory and I was waitlisted from Wellesley. Wellesley was a huge shock- I thought I was going to be rejected for sure. My stats are significantly lower than their average so not being flat out rejected was surprising.
hey guys! barnard is my top choice, i can’t wait for tomorrow! i doubt i’ll get accepted but i’m hoping i will by some crazy chance! good luck to everyone!!
I was also rejected from Wellesey ED and rejected from Emory RD!! Best of luck to you–hopefully for us Barnard will be third times the charm
I’m a little nervous too because I was rejected from Wellesley ED II. Guess who’s going to have an entire tub of ice cream tomorrow night? For whatever reason that may be… (celebrate or drown in my sorrows)
And I’m getting my decision at 2 am due to the time difference…
T minus 20-ish hours!!!
