I was reviewing all of the past threads and this is the latest they’ve waited to inform waitlisted candidates I’m really anxious and scared. I’m always wondering if they’ll be utilizing the waitlist this year. Barnard’s acceptance rate dropped from 21% to 19% this year-seems to all be a yield management game. Hopefully though they begin to notify waitlisted applicants this week.
They said mid-May, so I wouldn’t start agonizing just yet.
Hopefully this week we will hear something. Good luck to all!!!
Just remember, wherever we end up we will make the best out of it and will be happy. Just to have the privilege of being able to attend an institution of higher learning is something we should all be thankful for. Good luck again!
Hello all. I am very sorry to let you all know that I received an email from an admissions officer of BC saying that the class of 2019 is already full and they are not likely to go on the waitlist this year.
My heart literally just broke.
Guess that’s it then.
Not to get everyone’s hopes up. But I just called the Barnard admissions office (212-854-2014) at 3:20 p.m. (eastern time) today. The young lady said “They have not made a final decision yet about whether or not Barnard will be going to their waiting list. Things are moving very slowly. We should have a definite answer within another week.” Although I think things are pessimistic looking based on the previous message from the ladyofthelake; there may still be a small, albeit, very small glimmer of hope. Don’t give up just yet. The young lady at Barnard explained she understood how everyone feels because she was admitted to Barnard from the waitlist. And so I say, hang in there a little while longer. Miracles do happen.
Hey guys! I just called the admissions office and they said they haven’t made any decisions about the waitlist yet. We should hear back within a week or so. Don’t give up hope!
I want to believe what daboyzmom says. Life is all about miracles. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and keep waiting.
It’s scary that no one has posted since the 18th… Any good news/bad news/updates???
We haven’t heard anything, but I didn’t really expect a call yet. Between graduation and the Memorial Day holiday, I assue they are playing catch up. Maybe they’ll starting announcing decisions by the end of the week? We booked plane tickets for my daughter’s orientation at GW, so I’m hoping that’s what it (i.e., dropping hundreds of dollars more) is what it takes for her to get in :).
I emailed my regional admissions officer and she said she has not heard anything about the waitlist. I emailed her last week but I got an automatic reply saying she is on admissions related travel. So maybe all the admissions officers were not there to go over applications again.
Hopefully we will all hear something by the end of the month.
Just called the admissions office and the lady said that all the admissions officers were at a really important meeting and haven’t been in the office for a while and to call back tomorrow… I wonder if the meeting is about the waitlist :-S I hope next week looks up for us all!!!
Bad news…my admissions officer just emailed back and said she expected that on Monday they would be sending an email to all wait listed students saying that they will not be using the waitlist this year. Sorry guys.
Just received the Barnard email about closing the waiting list. Not completely clear whether they even accepted anyone from the waiting list. I think it was more likely that no one was accepted from the waiting list. But I thought it was nice how they invited my daughter to apply as a transfer student if she is still interested in Barnard next year. She will be going to Wellesley this fall.
I received an email and I quote:"I would like to speak with you via phone about your application to Barnard College"What does this mean?
What are they going to speak about…
It probably means they are offering you a place off the waiting list. This is great news for you. Let us know what they said. Fingers crossed for you.
I’m accepted off waitlist!! I’m so happy!! I thought it was an interview :o But I am a transfer student, so I am in a different pool than you guys I guess.
Congrats!!!
@cori0202 i am applying as a transfer student this year. how was the financial aid package they gave you as a transfer?
