Barnard Fall 2019 Transfer

Hey y’all!

For our personal statement, is there a word limit to that because all I’m seeing is that we upload a doc?

Good luck!

@lilbiggulp I just uploaded a one page doc for my personal statement!

@cncincolor Regarding housing: if you are extended housing for your first year as a transfer, are you guaranteed housing for the following years?

I think once you are extended housing, you get the same options as everyone else. They just don’t always offer housing to transfers so you might need to find your own apartment.

@novicemom26 I live 1,300 miles away, so I have a pretty decent chance at getting housing if accepted!

About a month until we hear back. Good luck everyone! Sending my love:)

my college report form was sent in late, does anyone know if this will affect my admissions decision?

I was accepted to NYU today, but Barnard is my first choice. I only have 2 weeks to reply to my offer of admission/need to accept it to see if I will be given housing. Does anyone know if I can call Barnard and let them know the situation, and possibly receive an early decision? Thanks!

^^^update: I emailed my admissions counselor to ask about this… hoping for the best!

Wishing you the best of luck:)

No dice on an email back from admissions so far, and a phone call to admissions gave me the idea that I would not receive a decision until they were all released… It was worth a shot!

Also!!! The admissions office told me they would send emails to applicants once they had their final pool with an exact date and time your decision will be made available— at least that’s some new news!

Did anyone call today ?

I was going to email schools and ask but I felt that it would look bad and affect their decisions because I would be basically telling them that I have other options.

@flygirl791 Schools know you are not just applying to them! Letting them know they are your top choice, and you would attend if accepted, is what I did.

The wait is eternal. We should be finding out sometime in May right?

Yea. By May 15

Hey guys! I ran across this thread, so I thought I would run a question by you all. So, I’ve applied to another school besides Barnard, as a good back-up plan, and they’re wanting me to submit my decision, enrollment deposit, and housing deposit no later than May 1st, but Barnard isn’t sending decisions out until May 1st-May 15th, so I’m kind of stuck. I’m not sure if I should go ahead and submit my decision to the other college? My only fear is that Barnard will accept me, and the other school won’t refund me for the enrollment and housing deposits because the total is close to $600. Would do you guys think would be the best action to take? Thanks in advance!

Have you asked the school that accepted you for an extension?

@writer0015 the enrollment deposit is definitely non-refundable.
However, you could separately ask the housing folks:

  1. Is the housing deposit refundable if I change my mind in one or two weeks ?
  2. How long can I safely delay payment of the housing deposit ?
