Hi. I just heard from someone that there is only one film school altogether in Barnard/Columbia. So Barnard film students share the same curriculum and resources with Columbia film students. She said if you apply to Barnard and get into Barnard film, you can say you are going to Columbia film school. Is this true? Any information would be helpful.

D2 was a films studies major at Barnard. She always said she went to Barnard. Saying you go to Columbia Film School implies, I think, that you are attending the graduate school. CC doesn’t run it’s undergraduate division as part of a film school as USC does, with a separate admissions office. They don’t award a BFA as USC does.

It is true that the film department is made up of faculty from CC and BC. Her letters of recommendation for grad school come from one BC professor and one from CC. This was not by necessity. They were just her two favorite professors.
