These are currently my three reach schools, but I'm kind of wavering on whether or not they're too far out there to even bother applying. I got a 32 on my ACT (though I'm planning on retesting again at least once) and my unweighted GPA is about a 3.8. I'm in at least the top 25% of my graduating class, possibly better but I won't know for sure until I get a new copy of my transcript. I took mostly honors/pre-IB courses my first two years of high school and I'm taking some dual-credit college courses my senior year. For a quick reference, the acceptance rates and median ACT scores for these three colleges are:

Barnard: 21%, 28/32
Fordham: 43%, 26/30
ND: 23%, 31/34

Should I rule out any of these early on or is it worth applying? Thank you!

It’s really hard to say without EC’s. That will make a huge difference.

Your in Fordham, its a match
Other two are reaches

Fordham is not a reach for you with that ACT score. It should be a very low match (90% chance) for you even though I don’t know much about your EC’s. I have many friends who got in to Fordham with much lower ACT and GPA numbers.

@MegaMetalHead I’ve been extensively involved with music and theatre, but that’s all I’ve really done EC-wise. I know volunteering is big at Notre Dame, though, which is why I’ve kind of been on the fence about bothering to apply there haha.

Definitely apply, it’s a reach but definitely within reach. It is a reach for everybody. Good luck for Notre Dame if you apply!

Fordham is not a reach for you…
