Anyone going as well? I’m a student from Northern California, and will be travelling with my parents to visit the campus and participate in the program. I am not sure really what to expect. Anyone can give me some details?

Most of all you will be getting a feel for the campus and the students who go there. You will experience the neighborhood and the campus. Our older daughter’s favorite part was taking a subway with the student guide. The student body of the college is pretty diverse, so you can’t pick out a stereotypical student, but there is a way of interacting that is “Barnard”. It is really a “gut” kind of thing. This is difficult for many of the intellectual types who attend elite colleges (NT types on the Meiers Briggs). Imagine yourself going to each college you visit. If you get a headache or start to feel nauseated maybe it is not for you. Our daughter went to Wellesley and Barnard on the same week and picked Barnard largely on feel. She felt Barnard was more funky and off-the-cuff. Wellesley felt too scripted to her. Frankly I thought she would pick Wellesley. So, you see it is very subjective.
As for your parents try some of the many ethnic restaurants in the area and take them to the museums many of which are free for students. The Natural History museum is presided over by the former president of Barnard, Ellen Futter.
Your parents can PM me if they have questions.

I’ll be there! get excited yall!

You girls know that after you’ve gone, you have to write up a play by play commentary on this forum so that all of us poor girls who live on the other side of the world can experience it somehow. :P

Will do, LadyStumble. : )
I’ll be going on the 10-11th too! Who else?
I wish I could do the pre open campus thing too, since I’m a “student of color”, but I’ll be missing school then. ) : Plus, I don’t really need to visit the Met, haha, NYC’s like a bus ride away from where I live.

Oh I will write up a thorough explanation of what goes down. Nooo worreis!
Shay, you should come see us anyway! come just for sunday!

figureskater- are you going 16-18th?
You mean saturday right?
I totally would, but on the Barnard site you can only register for 10-11th or 16-18th, not both. P :
