since there’s an ED thread I thought regular decision should have one too! how are everyone’s apps? barnard is the best!

Me me me! Except I haven’t started the app yet…

haha don’t worry I haven’t either! I’ve looked at the supplement questions but haven’t done them yet. Is it your first choice?

I’m not sure, I’ve only recently become interested in it. I like it a lot but I haven’t taken a tour yet. I’m planning to go on one in December though How about you?

here i come!!

Me too :D. I’m done with the supplements except for the second half of the question about the woman in history or lit / what would you talk about. Agh!

It’s one of my first choices! I haven’t taken a tour yet either but I hope to later this year! What’s really annoying is that I went to nyc this summer but only visited NYU and Columbia…I just didn’t know about Barnard yet but now that I do, it sounds perfect! I really want to visit. So what subject tests did everyone take? (I still haven’t taken any!! they don’t care which ones we take right?) and I read somewhere that we need 3 recommendations but I thought 2 was okay…ahh I’m so nervous I really want to get in!!

I had kind of the same situation! I thought Barnard was strictly a woman’s college and had only been looking at Columbia. Then my friend told me there’s a lot of interaction with Columbia so I became really interested in Barnard :P.

I took the Italian, US History, and Literature subject tests. I think you only need 2 rec letters but I have 3 anyway so I’m just going to send them all in.

We only need two teacher recs (thank god, you really scared me haha I had to check!). I took Lit, USH, and MathII but I did terribly on math, so I won’t be sending that one!

I’m applying there too!
Though my gpa/scores are a bit on the low end of the stick, hoping to up my act/sat this december… >_<;

Do we need 2 SAT IIs or 3? I thought it was 2 and only took math and language…
I didn’t even start on my application for Barnard yet neither did I start on common app/personal essay…

I asked my physics teacher for rec but she rejected me saying she had too many recs to write, sigh… I don’t know who else to ask I already got one from Art.

So screwed.

RDer here! Barnard has been at the top of my list for quite some time now.

I have been looking at the questions and thinking them over. They may be different because I am a transfer student. have any of you started the supplement?

haha good I’m glad we only need 2, thanks and sorry I scared you!! yes we only need 2 subject tests but you can take 3 in one sitting so some people do that and send their best 2 scores :)

@jcdancer- same! All I knew about it was that it was a women’s college so I didn’t even consider it but after looking into it, it seems amazing.

@eternaltorture- my grades/sat’s are a little on the low side too but I’m HOPING and PRAYING I’ll get in!!!

I’ve only looked at the supplement, but haven’t started it! I hope to have everything done by Thanksgiving though! I hope we all get in!!

Applyign regular decision too!!

Im an international student from Moroco, and is it just me, or do the supps just scare people away. I’ve finished up most of my app including the essay, but I haven’t started the supps yet because they freaked me out!!
I dont have such a great GPA but hopefully my diversity will get me through.

Im taking french and english lit. I heard lit was hard… have any of you guys taken it?

ya they do scare me! haha but i guess we have to do them eventually! i just need to sit down and get them done!

I found the English Lit. subject test to be more enjoyable than the Critical Reading section of the SAT, although I did get the exact same score on both.

Hey everyone! I’m applying RD and Barnard is definately my first choice!

Can I ask where you all are from? I’m from Ohio, and no one here knows what Barnard is when I mention it.

@lorrainedelis,

haha good to know I’m actually re-taking/taking sat iis in January for the schools that accept later score repots (feb 15-mar)
If my October ACT (score coming out today!) is better than I hoped, I’m going to change December SAT to SAT IIs since my SAT IIs are kind of crap :/

GOOD LUCK TO US BOTH!

@theatregirl24,

I’m actually from NYC lol … Living 15-25 blocks from Columbia University and Barnard College lol

I looked at the Barnard supplement just now… And I just can’t believe we have to write that many essays for it… I’m not a strong writer. But… If it’s for Barnard, I guess I’ll try.

theatregirl24, I’m from the great state of Texas. :)

@eternaltorture…you know if you send your ACT score you don’t need sat IIs right? maybe you have to take them anyway but I wanted to tell you just in case!

you live in nyc!! awesome! haha sorry I bet you hear that a lot but seriously its the best place in the world. you’re so lucky!!

Same here, but hopefully I can convey how much I want to go there through my supplement! I’m only making each a short paragraph though so I doubt it will take that long once I figure out what I’m going to write.

@theatregirl I’m from Texas no one knows what Barnard is here either but I kind of like that haha…@eternaltorture-its well known in nyc right? I’m surprised I didn’t hear about it more…it seems perfect!

That would be so fun if we all got in!! What does everyone want to major in? (and if you don’t know thats fine, I don’t! I think at Barnard you decide sophomore yr anyway though) omg I want to go so so bad!
