Hi, this is my first time posting here so I don’t really know how many people see this but I’m writing to see how many other people are finalist for Barnard SP^2. Also if any people currently part of the program have interview tips or tips in general.
I don’t know how this will influence my chances of admissions but I hope it means something good :). (If there are any SP^2 finalist here I just wanna let y’all know that I want to majoring in both computer science & environment and sustainability!) That’s all, I hope this made sense and that this thread reaches someone :))
I’m in the same situation. I was just notified that I was selected as a finalist in the Science Pathways Scholars Program and they want us to choose our interviewer and the time. I’m so nervous.
Did you get notified today? And I scheduled my meeting for tomorrow at seven. I’m really nervous but if you want I’ll tell you how it went!
Yeah, I got notified today. Please let me know how it goes! With the interviewer being an actual professors, it makes it 10x more nerve wrecking.
Cool and all right I’ll definitely let you know how it goes! The fact that it’s with professors makes me a bit more excited since it’s more within the faculty and it makes it feel like they really wanna get to know us on a student level. I feel like we have a decent chance I’m getting admitted but I don’t know anything lol

Sorry I was gonna add to this thread last night but couldn’t rlly remember the questions she asked me so I wanted to sleep on it. The interview was about 30 minutes and I think it went really well. She first asked how I became interested in CS and different research/projects I’ve done. After she ask questions like how did I over come a struggle, was there a moment where you felt as if you weren’t capable of achieving something and how did you overcome it and questions along those lines. She was reading from a list of questions so I’m not sure if you’d get the exact same questions. She also asked why STEM at Barnard and how would SP^2 help me. I suggest curating a good why Barnard and keeping note of things you don’t want to forget. She also allowed me to ask one question in the end and I made the question specific to what she does at Barnard. I hope that made sense and if you want more clarification just let me know! I’m sure you’ll do great, good luck!

I just realized I made a mistake, I meant “a decent chance of getting admitted”. Also did you have your interview yet? If so how did it go?
I have my interview tomorrow. Did you receive a likely letter? I got mine last week or the week before.
Hi all! I had my interview a couple days ago and I was admitted ED but I’m anxious to hear back about the program : ) I plan to major in bio on the pre-med track

I didn’t get a likely letter but I’m not trying to stress out, I applied for two other programs so maybe they’re looking to see if I’m eligible for those. Ah I’m hoping for the best though, and congratulations on getting the likely!!!
Sidenote how did your interview go?
Hii! That’s really exciting to hear that you got in ED, I know it must be super relieving. How did your interview go?
And anyone can respond to this but where are you guys from? I’m from NYC, Brooklyn specifically.
I think you’ll get in!
As far as the interview, I think it went well. The questions were similar to the ones you got asked. We talked about my interest in the biological sciences, research, and public health policy. I tied in that since Barnard is a liberal arts college I never feel like I would be limiting myself because we have access to research opportunities and Barnard is associated with Columbia (big coed research school). Conversations along those lines.

Thank you! I’m really nervous but I’m trying to take on new hobbies to keep myself relaxed. Your interview seems similar to mine, and I’m glad that it went well for you! Ah getting into this program would be a dream.
I’ve never been to Florida but I used to want to live there lol. Also did any of you guys go to Barnard bound?

I didn’t attend Barnard Bound.
Ahh I did, and it was great! Is Barnard your top choice or one of?
