BARNARD transfer chances??

I recently finished my first quarter as a freshman at UCSB and I'm thinking about transferring to Barnard College for Fall 2014. However, this quarter wasn't my best and my GPA is 3.32. Since the transfer application is due March 15, would Barnard see my Winter quarter grades? I have a lot of extracurricular and volunteering background from high school, but I took it easy my first quarter of college, so all I have is work experience. Also, my SAT scores from high school are slightly above the average of Barnard's accepted students. Should I wait to apply for Spring 2014 (kind of inconvenient) and show that my GPA first quarter doesn't reflect my usual academic success or should I just apply? If I apply for both Fall 2014 and Spring 2015, are my chances lowered? Is it kind of like a one-shot deal? I really want to go to Barnard!

I just got accepted by Barnard for the Spring semester and i think that you should apply! I finished my first year and I am on a gap this year. I think that for first year student, GPA matters but is not the most important factor. My first year GPA is only 3.1 and my SAT score is around 2000. I think it doesn’t really matter what time you apply…as the number of students they accept varies for fall and spring. I was a little bit surprised that I was accepted but i guess my essay and personal experience saved me. And also it depends on how many credits you get from UCSB. You might be qualified to apply as freshman? you should apply later only if you think that you can improve your GPA greatly. If not… just apply! And good luck!

Ooh so happy I found someone in the same boat as me! You could probably get in with a high SAT even if you relaxed last semester. I hope you applied. Did you get in?
