So anyone apply for transfer at Barnard?

Get letters yet?

i applied...haven't got anything though. any idea when they start sending notices out? i know they say you'll get it by mid-may, but do you think they start earlier than that?

i have no idea! i spoke to a woman on the phone-- and she was kinda rude. she told me to check the website for the info..

where do you go to school now? gpa/major (if you don't mind sharing)?

yeah, i've called twice and both times the woman who picked up was really short with me. i'm at grinnell college in iowa now, i'm a first year so no major but my gpa is a 3.75. barnard's a reach, but it's my first choice and the waiting is killing me! what about you? where are ya and what's your gpa/major there?

vlmanfredi,
Grinnel is an excellent school, and I think you are underestimating your chances. According to collegeboard.com, the acceptance rate for Barnard is about 39% - which isn't too dire. Anyway, good luck and don't cut yourself short.

hey cali, thanks for the boost of confidence. i know grinnell's a great school, but i've got a lot of little things that build up to count against me for transferring, you know? anyway, i really hope you're right about my chances--going to barnard would be amazing.

I'm a first year too. My gpa is around 3.75. I go to DePaul in Chicago (and I absolutely hate it!). My major is sociology-- I'm looking to go into social work.

The letter I got (three years ago...) was dated April 29th. I know that's old, but hopefully better than nothing. So early to mid May looks about right.

"you'll hear at the end of april or beginning of may" (the chica i talked to this time was nice)

first letters will be mailed out tomorrow and then continue on a rolling basis :)

the lady was actually nice? thats a change for barnard.

she told you first letters would be coming out tomorrow? do you know if it depends on when you sent your application, or is it random?

since more people seem to have viewed this than just me and you, thought i'd post that my parents got my letter today on long island, ny. i sent my app in on the last possible day, so it must be random.

HOw did u do, I live 20 minutes from Barnard, but yesterday they basically lost half of my application and hten found it. I hope I get something today or tommorow.

oh wow, that's cr@ppy of them--do you know if they've reviewed your app yet? i got in luckily.

Congratulations! I am so nervous, Barnard was my first choice school for a long time. I currently go to Bryn Mawr College and although I love the academics the school is not for me. Hmm can 't stand to wait anymore.

glad to hear you got in! i'm still waiting to hear back. they are still saying they don't have my high school transcript-- even though I had it sent more than once..

if I call and ask if they've reviewed my application, is that soemthing they're able to tell me? the admissions lady at barnard isnt too nice-- so i dont look forward to calling there...

Hey. I just posted on the Barnard website about transferring and transfer stats. (I don't wanna post the same thing twice, it might be kind of annoying.) But yes, the waiting is killing me and I'm so jealous some people already know (Congrats to those, well done!). I'm checking my mailbox every single day (I go to Lehigh-bleh!). My boyfriend applied to Columbia so he's checking too.

Haha, I think we've all spoken to the same woman at Barnard. When I was there for the tour/info session she was even being rude in front of the parents and they all had their mouths open like "who IS this person?". Oh well, the Barnard girls seem much lovelier.

Oh yes, and even though I applied as a freshman they're saying they don't have my high school transcript when they obviously do! That scares me, I don't want it to hold my application back.
