Barons or BlueBook?

<p>Hi. I've bought the Baron's Sat Math and Critical Reading from local book store and I am always reading on here about using the BlueBook because the questions are not "fake" questions since they are the ones that administer the Sat. I've also been told that Baron's has harder questions than what is actually on the Sat. Is this true? </p>

<p>Second question, which is the better book to use? My Baron books have 3 or 4 Practice tests where as the BlueBook has 6 or 7 ( I think ).</p>

<p>Third question, I am planning on taking the Sat in November and I don't think that I can take it then and I am going to 12th grade and I won't have much time to study during the school year since I plan on taking AP courses. What is the best way for me to prepare and get atleast an 1850 on the Sat? I am free all day so I have about 10 hours each day to study. Right now, I study but I don't really find my method very good. Some help there.</p>

<p>Forth question, I want to major in Engineering ( not sure which type yet ) and I live about 45 minutes from SUNY Stony Brook which has a great Engineering School ( so I've heard ). I don't really have any extra curricular activities to put on my resume except that i've been homeschooled since first grade, I speak fluent Persian, and that I am a member of the Suffolk County Orchid Society ( a flower organization ). I doubt, without some kind of miracle I get 2000+ on my Sat, that I can get into a good college. My four choices were SUNY Stony Brook, University of Rochester, SUNY Genesseo ( sorry if misspelled ), and SUNY Binghamton. Which of these could I get into with an 1700-1900 Sat score?</p>

<p>So, this is my real question for the paragraph above this, in 12th grade, I am going to public school. I was jumped 1 grade so I should techincally be in 11th. Should i go back to 11th and do some AP courses, take the ACT,take the Sat again and do some extra curricular, etc..... or should i go to 12th grade, stay ahead 1 year, and try and get into a SUNY atleast with what i have because i won't have my 12th grade scores to show to the colleges since they take applications in January, February, etc..</p>

<p>Do as many practice questions and tests as possible. Use the Blue Book and look for patterns in the tests. Barron's should have strategies to help you attain your target score. Just practice, practice, practice.</p>

<p>Barrons makes really terrible books. This is my experience from the SAT book I got from them, as well as the 6 AP books I've gotten from them.</p>

<p>Well, the reason I choose Barons is because they have answer explanations unlike the Bluebook, and most people I know can't solve those questions.</p>

<p>Also, if I might've misphrased my sentence in the paragraph, I didn't get their big SAT book, i got the smaller seperate sat books. They might be different, I don't know.</p>

<p>But, should I go and buy the Bluebook?</p>
