Barrett Dorm Communities

Hi! I was just accepted to Barrett and will hopefully be attending next year and majoring in Biology (Genetics). So now I have to get my housing preferences done, and the information I’m getting online is less than satisfactory. I just wanted to see if anybody could give their voice and talk about the differences between Agave, Cereus, Cottonwood, and Juniper, if there really is any. Also, if anyone who has a science major and has/is attending Barrett could talk about how the college was beneficial to them academically, I would more than appreciate it

Agave and Cereus are known for their business and engineering residential communities, respectively. Juniper and Cottonwood are (were?) upperclassmen dorms, which means the majority of the rooms will be quads: a suite with four single rooms connected by a small living room and dining area with a kitchen sink and cupboards. I think most science majors end up in Cereus because they try to plan it that way, but they might put you in one of the other dorms when they run out of space.
The main benefit of being a science major at Barrett is that you will always by surrounded by like minded students in your major. Barrett students in the same major will often pick the same classes (because we can and will choose the best professors and lab times) so you will probably recognize a lot of people by the end of your freshman year. If you befriend these people, you will have study buddies and lab partners for the rest of your college career.
