Barrett dorms

I was wondering if coffee makers and rice cookers are allowed in Barrett dorms? I’m in agave

I would assume so unless the new BHC is very anal…

I wouldn’t purchase anything until the move in packet arrives - there may be certain restrictions. I remember that toaster ovens were not allowed, microwaves are allowed but there are wattage limits. There are limits on the size of refrigerators as well (don’t remember the cubic feet but I think it’s 4.something).

The details on this should come out in mid July.

My roommate had a rice cooker and I had a coffee maker in the dorm…
Not sure if they were allowed, but we had them and nobody ever said anything.

Hi! I am a incoming Barrett student as well and I am in North Sage. I heard about restrictions on certain things such as the number of watts the microwave and the fridge can have, but I don’t remember them. I am waiting for the fall packet about that stuff to show up online! I can’t wait to get the room assignments! :D

Well, I know I had a hot water kettle, and so did a lot of other people and no one said anything…honestly, no one is going to check unless you actually light something on fire.

According to housing, rice cookers, coffee makers, electric tea kettles etc. are forbidden. People are probably getting away with it because no one checks - however, if the fire marshall should happen to inspect, they’d be gone.

Microwaves up to 700 watts were OK and refrigerators up to 4.0 cubic feet.

Luckily, it’s incredibly unlikely that anyone will ever check. This is partially because I am reasonably certain they aren’t allowed to go into your room without your permission. Like I said, no one cares…they only time I’ve heard of people setting things on fire is with microwaves…which of course they manage to do with amazing frequency.
