What kind of refridgerators for the dorms?

Have any of you bought refrigerators and used them in the honors college? What kind are allowed?

I don’t recall any specific restrictions, just not a real full size one. I used a mini with a real freezer though. It was bigger than most people’s.

I am wondering about this also. I am in the honors college too and I remember there was a restriction on something about the refrigerator but I can’t remember what (they told us when I went on their tour). I don’t remember what it was though so I am going to call them. Are you buying or renting (from ASU)? I just received the ad from ASU about renting a refrigerator and it’s ridiculous!!! We are just buying our own refrigerator it is so much cheaper to do so! If I find out the restriction, I will let you know! Good luck! :)

The Welcome Packet that will be posted on myASU (around the same time they post roommate assignments) has a lot of information on regulations and such. I think the maximum size is something like 4.3 or 4.5 cubic feet, but I could be wrong. I don’t know if regulations are different for Barrett though. The fridge I bought was an Emerson 3.2 cubic feet fridge with a separate freezer door. I really liked it and it was the perfect size for two people.

I think the best option is to buy one instead of renting. The one you rent must be returned almost 2 weeks before finals, and that’s when you really want cold drinks and food in your room! And for the price of renting one, you could buy your own microwave and mini fridge, which you can keep and use in the future! But if you are an out-of-state student and won’t have any where to store your things over the summer, it may just be more convenient to rent one so you have one less thing to worry about getting rid of at the end of the year.

^ Yea I’d recommend buying a small fridge. Target sells really cheap, decent ones around the start of school. I’ve kept mine since the dorms, and I even use it in my apartment off campus as an in-room cooler for more personal food items and drinks and such. However, make sure to talk to your roommate beforehand! My first year we both ended up with fridges…woops.

Yeah i am going to buy one too. It is much cheaper than renting one in the long run. haha I am waiting for the back-to-school sales as well!
