I am an Arizona resident and am having such a hard time choosing. I have heard great things about Barrett but also that U of A is a better “pre med” school. I really have no idea. I have visited both and I am somewhat turned off by ASU’s campus but that is not a big deal. U of A is beautiful, but I really just want to go wherever has the best academics and opportunities for me going into the medical field. HELP
Both will be fine for premed. Where will you feel most comfortable and do your best?
Barrett is better for honors college and has more honors classes - and honors students tend to do better in their honors classes than they do in their non honors classes, ergo, this translates into better GPAs (which is better for med schools). Both will have equivalent premed core classes and once you’ve reached the upper level classes, it’ll really depend on your having created relationships with professors, etc.
Check if one of the two does committee letters and limits who can get them, that would be a point against them (committee letter = good… but only for a select few = bad).
