Barron's and Kaplan tests

I"m taking Lit, USHIST, and Math II this Nov. So I bought a Barron's book for the math, because I figured it was better to over prepare, and I bought Kaplan books for lit and UShist.

I know that Barron's is harder than the real test, but can anyone tell me how much harder? And what about Kaplan's. Better yet, can anyone give me a scale, or even just an "add X to your practest test score".

And about Kaplan's, I haven't done any History practice tests yet, but the Lit ones I've taken seem a bit off. When I look at the ones I got wrong in the answers&explainations page, some of the explainations seem a bit off, or kind of a reach. Like it's something I wouldn't have picked up, and they're stretching it. Is this true of Kaplan's? And is Kaplan's an accurate test?

Kaplan inflated my cr score by like 70-90 points, don't trust it...

Have you done any subject tests?

i got a 780 on lit without studying. just get a lot of sleep and focus on what youre reading on test day.

Bump?

Anyone?

I got 580-650 on the Barron's math IIC practice tests. But when I did the real test it's much much much easier... Got 800 on the real thing. XD

Good luck.

MY GOD that is good to hear, lol some of this stuff just leaves me frozen. And I'm not even sure if I learned it back in trig, and I'm in Calc now. ANd if I did learn it in trig, i probably got a C-B on the test heh.

How do you convert the Barron's score, they just tell you excellent, average, above/below average etc.

I don't quite remember exactly how i converted the score. I think I used Kaplan's conversion table to find out the score for Barron's tests. Don't worry if you're getting lots of questions wrong on Barron's. I was never able to finish their practice tests in time, not even once.

I actually think Kaplan's tests are pretty accurate in terms of the difficulty level and the score. I'm doing Chem next week and I'm using Kaplan combined with Barron's to prepare. Surprisingly I think Kaplan covered more things than Barron's while keeping the content much easier to understand. XD And doing Kaplan's tests would boost ur confidence level too~!

For math, make sure you understand the topics mentioned in Kaplan, try the practice tests, and relax. Good luck~~~~~~~

Questions:

For the Kaplan's Lit book, they have a -7 curve for the Lit. As I can get an 800 even with 7 wrong, this is out of 63 btw. They also have a -11 curve for USH. Is this accurate? Are they factoring their own tests' difficulty? Or is this a complete lie, and I should expect to get a much lower score.

For Chemistry, I'd have to say Kaplan prepares you in the most efficient manner. Barron seems to give you a lot of information that will help you ace the test, but the amount of effort you need to put in to consume all that info just isn't worth it. TPR... Their chemistry book could be better... Some critical points (from time to time) seem a bit vague...
