I just started studying for the AP exam and I couldn't help but notice that this book is really specific [as are the practice tests in the back of the book]. Is this how specific the actual exam is (anyone with previous history with the book)? Should I purchase a different book (which one)?

It's mad specific yo. I used that to study for class tests and Princeton for the AP.

Does Princeton's covers all the information needed for the AP Test without loading one with unneccessary specific facts like the Barron's book?

I may pick it up. Anyone get a 5? What book did you use?

I gots a 4, but thats probably because I didn't do anything else but read the book, didn't touch the practice tests, and I was only in 9th grade. But yeah, it covered the material well and provided good outlines and summaries of everything. Barrons was just too long and too loaded with facts.

well my teacher forces us to use it b/c he says it helps us get a 5 easily. but ive compared it with the princeton and it is waay friendlier than barrons soo yeah

I'm self studying and I bought Princeton, I wish I bought barrons though, since they have the MP questions and they are detailed.

But for review, if you have taken the class at school, I agree, PR would be the best because its a great overview, and it highlights the major points and comparisons.

I used barron's, because my school gave it to me (I was the first at my school ever to take the exam, b/c they don't offer the course). I'm generally pretty good at history, but I was a freshman using my HORRID world history class as a review while i read the barron's. I did the multiple choice exam on the back, but didn't touch the essays (lazy-streak runs wide in me). I ended up getting a 5 on the exam though, on the strength of my B-S abilities and the barron's book, so I suppose I'd recommend Barron's, although I didn't look at Princeton Review's...it seemed like their chapter summaries were great though, from my experience (Barron's)

Barron's was good for World. But for US it sucks.
