one question in the practice test goes like:
A length of 55 mm is approximately equal to a length of:
A 0.055m
B 55cm
C 0.55m
D 5.5cm
E 0.0055m

apparantely D is wrong and A is right.

every book has mistakes

you know what....... i have found so many mistakes already in that book that it has left me wondering why people like it so much!!!!!

ditto in the math IIC book...its too hard, unlike the test, difficult explanations and theres so many typos.

u idiot of course A is right, ever heard of base units?

length always measured in meters, weight always measured in kilograms
NO MATTER what because the equations all support base units. LOLZ looks like you failed.
=p

but yea i have to agree barron's does suck, i used REA math and got 790, barrons got me 750. barron's physics does have errors and then there are those questions that you just have to know

you really should be embarrassed that you created a thread for the sole purpose of pointing out a "mistake" in a prep book only to find out that it isn't a mistake. The fact that you posted it in the first place--whether it is a mistake or not--is just a waste of time and I feel bad for you if you have nothing better to do. Haha, either way, the prep clearly wasn't effective and you probably didn't do well on the exam.

wait.........so u r saying that the length is not 5.5 cm but 0.055m. Wow they are equivalent, even if i have to use the s.i. units that would be dumb to say that both of them ae not the same, which they obviously are

so 55mm is not equal to 55 mm. GREAT!!!!!

Barron made a mistake. All of those units are SI units. They never said to use base units.

They have lots of typos like that.

Barron's physics is retarded. I have their 2002 edition...I looked at my friend's new 2007 version and it's pretty much the same. >_>

they're both right, idiot! maybe you should have looked at it longer before making a thread about it!

dats the whole freaking point maributt, they made an error which i have pointed out.
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! why the hell did i start this stupid thread!!!

Wow, this thread is pretty hostile. I didn't know so many people had such strong allegiances to Barron's. I personally lost all my reverence for Barron's when I found a mistake in my Chem SAT II book. But I respect the idolatry of others. :D

never used... thus never annoyed. :)
but i agree with the mistakes on prep books. there are just too many of them. i found several big mistakes in barrons AP chem, PReview's AP Stat, etc.
it's pretty annoying when you think about how much money you have spent on these typos and errors.

We need more discipline on this board!

As I always say:

Give them 55mm and they'll take 5.5cm.

My barrons could knockout your princeton reviews anytime. Kaplans are more difficult to deal with.

But ya, why the hostility?

And to those lamenting about mistakes, my point of view is that hey, if I'm good enough to catch a mistake (not all of them are trivial), then I'm in good shape! Just think of those poor people who 100% trust the book.

umm but isnt the answer A? isnt physics thing or w.e in MKS?

not funny why post?

There are more than a few errors in that book. For instance they ask you to find out how far an object will go, only giving the angle, no velocity or the like given. Just really annoying.
