Hi all, I plan on taking the SAT this october and was wondering what any of you thought on the Barrons SAT prep book. I have 2 months to study, so can someone affirm that Barrons is a good way to go, or should I focus on other books.

Barrons is trash. It's convoluted, it overshoots your target scores while remaining stupidly difficult, it's just plain bad.

prep books to get:
1. Blue Book< only do the tests from this
2. Rocket Review (CR & Writing)
3. Grubers (Math)

Crap, I thought the book looked pretty good after looking through it at the store...the explanations and strategies aren't bad, but I am getting alota practice problems wrong especially in CR. Is Barrons SAT 1 supposed to be alot tougher than real SAT exams

yea its tough... but it still prepares you

Other than the BB, Barron's is my favorite test prep book. I've heard that Rocket Review is supposed to be really good too. Barron's is a little tougher than the real thing, but it has a lot of practice in it. I mean, what bad can come out of over preparing yourself with Barrons?

ic, anyone else have any opinion on this

I have looked at every prep book on the market and Barrons is the best. Stick with it, you won't be disappointed.

When I prepped for the SAT, I used Barron's along with the College Board SAT practice tests. Critical Reading on Barron's was usually harder than the College Board version. The type of questions were the same though. Math was quite tricky. Barron's had a wide variety of questions and had very good explanations. Some of the math questions were so similar to the real test that I ended up using the same method during practice to answer the test. I felt writing was good but not as strong as the critical reading and math. Overall Barron's is an excellent book that will prepare you better than all the other SAT review books. After going through the entire book and all the tests, I raised my score from a 1050 to a 1300. My break down was 650 cr and 650 math. Barron's scale gave me that result within plus/minus 20 points.

Right now I am using the College Board book and Rocket Review. I highly recommend the CB book for the practice tests, and Rocket Review has great strategies.

Barrons has harder material than what is on the test. IMO, why prepare for harder questions that will not be on par with the questions on the test? I want realistic tests, and the CB book is the best way to go for that.

lol Barron is the hardest prep book I've ever taken, especially math.

the math didn't seem to hard...

I have the Barrons math book and the Barrons SAT book, I hear people sometimes talk about a Barrons 2400 book?

Man, so many mixed opinions...
