barrons?

hey! can anyone who have used barrons give me an opinon? Such as level of difficulty, etc ?:)

hard??????

I have used 22nd edition.
In my sense, it's a motley of hard math and inconsistent review every here and there. The wordlists are awesome, especially for internationals or students who aren't really keen on reading. The practice tests are somehow harder, but do not follow the original Reasoning SAT with 10 sections. All in all though it's not a bad book. It would be great if you combined it with PR's Cracking or Blue Book to get a real feel of the format and degree of hardness.

I heard that barrons makes almost all of these books (SAT and SAT II) harder than the actual test in order to 'overprepare' for the worst. i think its a good philosophy and hopefully its true, lol

if someone can validate the statement above that would be grand

Barron's 2400 was pretty good practice, but I was not extremely impressed. It wasn't a WHOLE lot harder than the real SAT.

The Barron's math is so much harder than the actual Sat math!

I used Barron's 2400 mainly for CR prep and it completely screwed me up. Also, its writing prep is a little incomplete. I didn't use it for math prep. I went from a 2290 on a practice test to a ~2000 on a second practice test after reading Barron's. It's very possible the score decrease had nothing to do with Barron's, but... chances are, it screwed me up.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to say that I only meant the CR in Barron's 2400. I didn't look at the math.

I found some of the grammar review in that book helpful, though.

thanks guys !! ^^

I have the newest Barron's SAT book revision 24 or 23, whichever is latest.
My god , the practice SAT tests are insane, at least in my opinion.

I took the CollegeBoard practice test when i first ever heard of the SAT, and got 700+ on all sections.
I took the 6 Model tests from the Barron's book, and every time I could swear I had chosen the right answers, and in the end I always ended up with over 50% of my answers wrong. Every test I take makes me fool more and more like an idiot.
My only relief is that most of the answers i've messed up, especially in the Math section, are because I've missed to take note of a word in the given problem and just tiny mistakes because of hastiness. Hopefully I'll learn from my errors tho.

I really do hope Barron's is just being intentionally too hard, and the real SAT would be easier.
