How effective are the Barron's workbooks at raising one's score? Knowing that Barron's has a reputation of being difficult, I purchased the critical reading and writing workbooks. Does the increased level of difficulty hold true for these workbooks? If anyone has worked with Barron's SATI Prep books let me know if they gave you results. Thanks.

yeaa! i purchased those too… unfortunately i didn’t work them yet.

but i have a handful of sats right now. i’ll see how they do.

I’m in the same situation.

I’m in the same situation, I have the writing workbook and it doesn’t seem too bad.

I feel like the writing might have a different style than College Board’s tests, but I am going to work through it anyways. I will probably see great leaps in writing by using the blue book and the Barron’s Writing workbook at the same time. Barron’s stuff gets great reviews.

I recently got all 3 and have just began with the math about 4 days ago
i’m about 75 percent done with it and i’ve seen my math score jump
where i was getting about a 710 on practice tests now i’m not getting between 760-770( and a lot of the questions i missed were on topics I hadn’t covered)
However the math one at least is not very good at actually teaching you the material if you don’t already know it, and if you’re weak at math I would find it more frustrating than effective.

The writing workbook is weak. But the math and CR workbooks are pretty effective. At least those are conclusion I’ve drawn from my experiences with Barron’s workbooks. I’d say that of the three, the math book is the most effective, with the CR coming in a distant 2nd.

I think for the writing especially you should just turn to the BB to learn the grammar and idiom rules. The essay is pretty much the easiest part of the whole affair. Just learn how to write long but coherently while still keeping your essay relevant to prompt. It doesn’t really matter how bad you write so long as you don’t write complete nonsense.

I saw a link on here a while back to a website that had a free downloadable pamphlet that pretty much broke down every type of writing MC problem there is and how to solve it. It was a hge help for me. I’ll try to find it for you.

^That would be very helpful, If I could get that Pamphlet.

Here it is: [RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting](http://rapidshare.com/files/251959955/MTP_Grammar_Rules_Packet.pdf)

It’s a huge help. I worked through it only about 4 days before the test and only got 2 errors in MC.

Thanks. The packet looks pretty solid.

Barron’s CR Workbook I can honestly say completely sucks. The passages are completely different from the BB. I threw it away after doing a section.
