I was rejected by my first choice school-- NYU. I applied to these two other schools, Eugene Lang the New School and CUNY Baruch. Which school is better for a finance major, given I want to try and transfer after two years (I understand the magnitude of difficulty)? Thanks.

*My ideal career would be investment banking, but I also have interests in hedge funds, corporate finance (mergers and acquisitions), and even consulting. If things look murky post undergrad, then I will probably attend law school to pursue corporate law. *

There’s a lot to consider here. Are you able to afford both schools? You are out of state, yes? So with Baruch, you will have to pay out of state tuition.

Also, be aware that neither school has much campus life.
Do you want a traditional college experience?

The financial situation is irrelevant to me as I have already received scholarships for both schools… I am simply looking for an input on which school is more reputable in the field of finance and which I would have an easier transition from. The college experience has never been particularly interesting to me, I just want to be in New York.

I would definitely go with Baruch – I think it would be the stronger school for finance. Also, the New School has alot of social activist non-profit types, but Baruch has more people who want to get into finance comparatively.
