I’m choosing between these two colleges and need help determining which is a better choice based on my major. I might be minoring in Computer Science and Law. Baruch is around 10k less than Fordham per year.
Would you be commuting?
Did you get into the honors program at either one?
I would be dorming at Fordham and commuting to Baruch. I got into both honors program.
Congratulations for getting into the Honors program at both.
Would you and your family be able to afford the 10k difference without loans?
Fordham sounds like the best deal here, because you get to live on campus with classmates withour having to negociate transportation time yet be in/withib easy access of the city, and without the red tape at Baruch.
(Honors does mitigate that somewhat).
I don’t understand this, azrangda21. Fordham is willing to let someone who is not a Fordham student live in a Fordham dorm?
Can your family afford Fordham comfortably (no hardship no debt)?
She means…if she goes to Baruch she will be commuting from home.
If she goes to Fordham, she will be living in the dorm.
Oops!
If Fordham is going to cost $10k per year more in tuition plus ~$20k room and board per year, then perhaps the cost differential could be as much as ~$120k all-in. If costs were equivalent I would lean toward Fordham as it may be a better academic experience and the Rose Hill campus has a more traditional feel compared to Baruch. However, if you or your family would have to take out loans to finance the incremental cost of Fordham, I would definitely lean toward Baruch. For perspective, I work in banking in NYC and on my team there is one alumni from Fordham and one from Baruch so breaking in from either school is definitely doable for the top students. However neither is a “target school” so will need to be at the top of your class and get finance internships and clubs on your resume to maximize your chances with recruiting.
