Any opinions?

baruch is still better than hofstra

Go to baruch. No question about it

if you are looking to attend a traditional college with a real campus, greek life, student life, etc then do not go to baruch. i went to hunter honors which is essentially the same thing and the majority of classes that i took were not honors but indeed regular science classes as they do not offer honors classes in the majority of the subjects. hunter was essentially a suitcase school as people would just get their work done and run away afterwards. very little socializing and i transferred after two years because i got fed up with taking the subway to and from school everyday. also the regular classes were a JOKE, for a 300 level history class i had to write a 10 page paper. I write 30 page papers for history in my private university. i know that baruch and hunter are obviously different schools and while baruch does have a good reputation for finance/accounting the campus life will be HORRIBLE. if you do not mind commuting from your home or living in dorms the size of a cardboard box miles away from campus (there will still be no traditional campus life) then go for it. my advice is to either go to hofstra or start at Baruch, get over a high gpa and transfer to a school like nyu (better campus life and Stern is a world class program), UVA, Lehigh, etc. only problem with transferring is that you are not considered for merit based aid. i made a TERRIBLE mistake of going to a school in the city and I was miserable. this is my story though, I am very into partying and going out but i always have had very high grades at the same time so it doesn’t bother me. if you are fine with hanging out with your local friends and not having a social scene at your school then go to baruch. my 2cents.
