Hi which of these offers would you take. Particularly if your major was undecided and you were going to commute to all 3.
Baruch with full dean scholarship and laptop
Wagner for 10,000
or st johns for 5,000

If you completely have no idea on what you want to major in, I would say Wagner is your best bet if funds aren’t an issue, followed by St Johns then Baruch.
I would choose St. Johns, then Baruch, then Wagner.
St. John’s is much better than Wagner, and cheaper!
So you guys think its worth it to pay money at the private schools compared to the full scholarship from baruch? Do you guys think they are much better academically than baruch, or you just prefer bigger named private schools?
also made fordham but that will cost 35000
Fordham isn’t worth $35,000 if you’re commuting, and have a full scholarship as an option.
St. John’s is a bit better than Baruch. I think St. John’s is more well-known, at least in this area.
Would you attend St. John’s Manhattan? If so, Baruch is better for an undecided student. Manhattan has very few majors.
St. John’s Staten Island campus
not the Manhattan one
Baruch is free, the others aren’t. Baruch puts you near mid-town Manhattan every day, the others don’t. And like the others, Baruch has a fine reputation in many business areas, especially accounting. Don’t fall in to the trap of comparing rankings of these three schools. They are irrelevant. I would choose Baruch.
The commute to mid-town from Staten Island is one of the worst in the NY area.
Would have to take the train or drive to the ferry then take 4/5 up to school. There is probably a bus but that isn’t much better.
You are looking at 90 minutes each way. Just imagine if you have an 8 am class.
Wagner at 10k is a good value.
Well the express bus would be an easier option if i ever had early classes.
Also i would have priority registration so i would basically be able to pick my schedule.
Are you leaning toward the social sciences or business/Accounting? Then Baruch, absolutely, and do your utmost to pick instructors “rated” 4.5+ on RateMyProfessor because instructors’ quality ranges from excellent to absolutely horrible. Priority registration saves you a lot of trouble - no need to take a class before 9:30…
If you’re leaning toward the sciences, either Wagner or St John’s. Wagner has less of a core curriculum so it may factor into your decision. The core curriculum lets you explore lots of subjects but they’re mandatory. Less of a core curriculum means you can explore in the directions you wish but may not encounter ideas, authors, or fields you wouldn’t have thought of on your own.
What’s your parents’ budget? Where would the difference in money come from?
Is Fordham 35K JUST TUITION or is that your total COA (ie., tuition, room, board, personal expenses)? (Check)
^^^ Exactly.
What is your commuting cost for Baruch, Wagner, and St. John’s?
What is your commuting time for all three?
What other expenses would you have to add on (additional meals away from home, additional commuting time/cost to a part-time job) for each option?
To my mind, Baruch for free is a no-brainer. But if you live a block from Wagner or St. John’s and can pop home whenever you need a snack between classes, then that needs to be taken into account too.
Commuting from Staten Island to NY is a very difficult thing for a student. The bus goes through Brooklyn and then Into Manhattan and only stops downtown or east 57the Street. On a good day, D to D is well over an hour to Baruch.
Im probably choosing baruch. St johns and wagner are still about 40 minute commutes. Also i definitely am not majoring in a science but would possibly consider business. Also its free, only if one of the privates was significantly more well known and would offer a better education id go to them.
Commuting from Manhattan to Staten Island seems unreasonable when you have options in your borough.
You’ll graduate with no debt, and you’ll save time commuting. A great decision!
Fordham IS a very good school, which is why I asked if you had checked your award to make sure the 35k were tuition only and not with r/b
How long is your commute to each ?
Could having Baruch for free save enough money that you could sublet something 3 nights a week? (you can easily schedule classes M-Th at Baruch)
fordham tuition is 35.
commutes like an hour to baruch 40 min to the others
Fordham off the table.
Direct journey or you have to transfer?
I’d say Baruch though - did you get honors? If not, try to register for at least one honors class as it’ll help getting into honors later on and always check rmp.
probly baruch yeah i got honors
