<p>I'm signed up for Chem 3A (organic chemistry) but waitlisted for the discussion and lab section at position 117. I have 14 hours, including Chem 3A which is 4 hours, but I'll have to drop the class if I can't get into the discussion and lab. What are the chances of getting in? More importantly, should I sign up for a backup class and then drop that class if I get into Chem 3A?</p>
<p>Do that. My tips for freshmen would to over-enroll… you have no wiggle room if you start hating/can’t get into a class. You don’t want to end up not having enough units, thus forcing yourself to take some boring decals or classes. I screwed up freshmen year b/c of that. 2nd semester went much better when I enrolled for 22 units then end up only taking 17 (dropped like 2).</p>
