*****Bates College Class of 2020 ED and RD Discussions*****

@CHD2013 It certainly is, and they gave me a very big scholarship. I think that I would definitely qualify for need based aid. Hopefully, if I am accepted than the costs will not be so bad. They are also worried about Bates location, as members of my current community view Lewiston/Auburn as very shifty.

Well Bates has a lot of advantages as a school so if the costs are close it would be great to consider it. Also, Bates has a pretty self-contained campus so you won’t need to venture into Lewiston much. Its a really great school; I hope you get in.

@CHD2013 are you a current student at bates or an alumni/alumnus? Sounds like you know a lot about the school.

@CHD2013 Thank you. I hope so too! And definitely.

I hope I haven’t given the wrong impression. I’m neither a current student or alum. But I have read a lot about the school over the last 1.5 years and visited once. Based on the info I’ve gathered, I’m a big fan.

@CHD2013 What did you apply? RD OR ED?

@kjdsdksf happy for you. If i may, what was your EC like.

Just weird community events that I did

@kjdsdksf Do you if ED gives a major advantage over those who apply RD? I am thinking about changing my application to ED2. But I am so conflicted.

@kjdsdksf Wonderful stats btw!

@lynkel its probably the best thing to do if Bates is your top choice. There is no harm in converting to ED, cause if you get rejected, you will most probably have been rejected in RD also due to the larger pool. and ED is more beneficial as they look at you more individually due to a smaller pool of applicant than in RD and it also tells them that Bates is your top choice. :)>-

If bates is your number one. Do it

@snow30 @kjdsdksf I just don’t know how I feel about living away from my parents. I am very much a baby when it comes to that stuff.

@lynkel Lmaoo! The admissions officers better not hear that :wink: =P~ . What about me, all the way from Africa :smiley: . You will get used to it and probably feel better not being around them. Trust me! Been there, done that :wink: >:D<

@snow30 I’m doing it! I’ve decided it is the place for me. Hopefully, I get in. And Africa?! Wow!

@lynkel Great Choice!..And yeah Africa, Nigeria to be exact… I am hopeful we will meet as Bobcats!
