I am a domestic applicant, I actually live in Maine. I called, and I was able to set up an interview with an alum in my area. I’m curious, what other colleges has every been accepted/applied to?
@lynkel i applied to collegea similar to bates but am doing early decision at bates. I applied to Grinnell, Sewanee, Pitzer, Colby, NYU Abu Dhabi, Bowdoin, Clark. What about you.
Those are kind off my top schools
I applied ED1 to Colby and was rejected, unsure of why, since I was already a part time student through my high school program. I’ve been accepted at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and Thomas College, both school’s I really do not want to go to. My heart was so set on Colby, I adored it. I loved going to classes there. I was so heartbroken when I was rejected, Bates is similar, and so I figured why not. I really wanted to go to a competitive New England school but now I’ve nearly run out of options due to deadlines. If I get into Bates I’ll attend, if not, Thomas I guess. And Bowdoin is breathtaking! I love it there.
@lynkel sorry about your not being accepted at colby, hope you get into Bates or Bowdoin
@lynkel what are your stats by the way.
@snow30 Thanks. Me too. What drew you to Bates? For me it was the community aspect.
@lynkel well i have never been to bates, so i would say its the environment from the videos i have watched, it seems kind of unique and the volunteering activities to. Also my sister knows someone at Bates and she told my sister that the place is really nice, has a good community as you said. And Bates also has one of the best professeurs among otger colleges. Thats pretty much it.
Other*
Well that is very interesting! I have been to Bates twice, once with my school and the other time I stayed overnight for an extended visit. It is beautiful and I really think an education there will help me grow and flourish as an individual. Sorry for all this babble by the way, I am really bored and should be doing my AP Econ homework but… I am too busy thinking about colleges. @snow30
@lynkel what are your stats.
@lynkel -perhaps you should consider asking your guidance counselor to let the admissions office know that Bates is your first choice and that you will attend if accepted
@lynkel lol…i heard maine can have really harsh weather?
@snow30 I am 13 out of 154 students, GPA is 100.07 W and 92.35 UW. I am currently taking AP Microeconomics, AP Environmental Science, AP Human Geography, AP Language and Composition, and AP Stats. I have been a varsity cheerleader grades 9-12, French Club, Journalism, History club, etc. I did not submit SAT or ACT scores. Maine weather is TERRIBLE! I have lived here my entire life and the weather can be quiet bad. This year it has been a very easy winter but we have winter starting in about October/Novemeber to sometimes April. Also @CHD2013 I’m thinking about doing that, I’ll have to talk to my parents because they really want me to go to Thomas.
@lynkel u have amazing stats, its surprising colby rejected you.
@snow30 Thank you. I am unsure why, I think I may have asked for too much financial aid, my SAT scores are also low 1680. But thankfully, Bates does not require them. I also forgot to mention that I attended a class at Colby first semester and received a good score. I’m hoping I get in at Bates, I just set up an interview with an alum.
As for me, my unweighted rank is 2 out of 50, unweighted GPA of 4.67/5.( my school does not weight gpa neither does it offer AP classes). I was part of a volunteering service in my school, elected as treasurer to be exact, elected a student government role, house captain, soccer team member, captain of athletics team, captain of hockey team, member of mathematics, Jets and ICT club. Like you i dint submit test scores. Thats pretty much it. @lynkel
@lynkel my SAT scores to are low(early 1700s), but anyways good luck with your adnission process
@snow30 You have awesome stats! And you too!
Well Thomas is a lot cheaper than Bates. Do you think you’d qualify for need based aid at Bates? Sometimes, that can even the playing field.
