I'm a good student - I get mostly A's, some B's. Last year I did very well. The only exception is that I've gotten 4 C's - 2 in Physics, and 2 in Chemistry. 2 years of Physics and Chemistry are required at my school, and I'm just horrible at it. I go to a school that really focuses on science and math, whereas I am by far more of a humanities person. Will this seriously hurt my chances of getting in? Also, my math grades are generally in the low B's.

However, for all other subjects I've done very well. I've gotten very high marks throughout high school in French, and am currently taking AP French. Took 7 years of Latin and did well. English is my best subject, in AP English right now. I'm also in AP Bio - while I suck at Physics & Chemistry, I'm pretty good at Bio (I think I have a B+). Took AP US History last year, did pretty well. Basically, I do very well in Languages and pretty well in other things. I've taken photography all throughout high school, and got straight A's in that as well.

I applied ED in the hope that that would up my chances.

I have very good extracurriculars - head of several clubs, skiing since I was a little girl, community service representative of my school, volunteering through this one organization all through high school, piano since 6th grade... and these are all things I actually care about.

SATs... bombed the math section, critical reading & writing I did well in though (above 700s). Debating on whether or not to send my scores in. Yet to take English LIT and French Listening subject tests, but pretty sure I'll do well on these & at least send those scores in.

Basically, what I'm asking is: Will Bates understand that I'm just not good in maths and hard sciences, no matter how hard I work, and I happen to attend a school that isn't an excellent fit for me in that way, and will they then focus on my strengths? Or will my poor grades/SAT scores in maths and hard sciences keep me from getting in?
