Bathrooms

Hello, I was wondering about the bathrooms, specifically the showers, at University of Scranton. I didn't get to see them when I visited. Is it relatively clean? Is there a curtain or door in each stall? Is there a changing area in the stall or do people usually head back to their dorms to change?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, I’m a sophomore at the U. The freshman bathrooms are pretty good. They’re generally clean- maintenance cleans at least three times a week. Maintenance mops the floor and showers, cleans the toilets, and wipes down the sinks and counters. The bathrooms usually don’t look as good by the end of the weekend, though, especially if you have residents on your floor who come back drunk and aren’t considerate (paper towels on the floor, etc).

The general day-to-day cleanliness really depends on the other residents on the floor and how clean and considerate they are. The RAs usually establish guidelines at the beginning of the year about throwing trash out and remembering to clean up and flush. If your RA enforces them, it shouldn’t be a problem. If you have a bad floor, maintenance will still be there several times a week to keep on top of things. My floor was pretty considerate, so we didn’t have many issues.

At least in the girls’ dorms, the showers do have curtains. I think the RAs have to get them out of their own budgets, but most RAs do get them because they understand that people want their privacy. I was in GLM (Gannon, Lavis, McCormick) and there was a changing area in the stalls. It’s partitioned off from the toilet stalls and sinks. You walk through a curtain and find shower stalls (with curtains) and a long bench opposite the stalls where you can lay your clothes and shampoo and stuff. I can’t speak for any of the other dorms because I wasn’t in their bathrooms, but I imagine they’re set up in a similar way. I usually walked back to my room in a towel because I found it annoying to carry clothes all the way down the hall. It’s easy for stuff to fall to the floor if you’re carrying it back and forth.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks! Would you happen to know the situation on boy’s dorms and if they have curtains, changing areas, etc?

If your accepted, do Royal Nights. You will see first hand.
