I'm not sure how many students out there are like me, but I find it impossible to stay awake after school because I am too weak and exhausted, and I must take a nap. Naps seem common enough. But it is problematic now that my course load is too heavy and naps necessitate staying up later, interrupting my real sleep.

How did anyone similar deal with the problem?

If it's as serious as it sounds you may want to see a doctor. If it's just a case of sleep deprivation you should do more to avoid working late, and definitely try to get as much sleep as possible on the weekends.

Take power naps. Long naps can actually wear you out while still registering to your brain not to go to bed until later. 20-30 minute naps are brutal to wake up from, but it takes like 30 seconds before you feel bouncy and rested.

And eat healthy foods, not caffeine and sugar. I was addicted to coffee for a time. I cut back, and a few withdrawal migranes later, I feel a lot better.

Exercise can help too. Go jogging, biking, or even just walking. My mom makes me walk everywhere within about two miles, so I'll offer to get some cereal at CVS or something and there's a 45 minute pick-me-up walk.

I'll try a powernap, I think I did once and it was somewhat effective but I was still tired. Exercise keeps me up after a nap, it won't beforehand because I'm at school, stationary. I typically limit caffeine to studying before a big exam so I don't get tired again.
