Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award helpful?

I found out I got this from my school today. Is it a very well known award and would it help very much with scholarships/admission?

bumping this thread cuz I really wanna know :-P

How did you win it?

one junior from each school who participates in the award thing gets it. I was the junior

Darn! I just wrote a whole thing pushed the wrong button and it disappeared-so for a shortened version: Yes it will help. (D got Human. & Soc. Science Award from U of R last year). These awards can be listed on your resume/activity sheet and will clue other colleges that you will be receiving money from U of Rochester. My d was offered $8,000 from Carnegie Mellon and I really believe they offered her money because they knew she was getting money from U of R. I think schools like Rochester-Carnegie Mellon-Case Western-Brandeis and some others attract similar students- so these schools compete with each other for the same student. Also your HS must nominate you for the Award, so the colleges know that your school has judged you as one of their top science/math students. That affirms to the college, that your school thinks very highly of you. U of R is a wonderful school. You should give it consideration.

Hi again! To clarify this award $, can only be used if you go to the University of Rochester. You cannot transfer the money to be used at another school.

thanks!
