has anyone heard of this?

has anyone heard of the univeristy of rochester bausch and lomb science award?

Yes. My son was given that award last year as a junior. What would you like to know about it?

<a href="http://www.bausch.com/us/vision/about/science.jsp%5B/url%5D">http://www.bausch.com/us/vision/about/science.jsp</a></p>

i got it last year too. is it something that looks good on an app?

It's hard for me to say how good it looks on an application, since I'm not on a college admissions team. It is an honorary award for which the local school selects a recipient, similar to "alumni book awards", but it does indicate that your school's faculty selected you as the top candidate from your school in your year. I know my son included it on his apps where there was room. I'm sure it doesn't look bad but of course your application is a package of materials and this would be only one part. (My son was accepted EA to MIT this year, btw, but I have no idea whether this award played any part in that decision.)

Hey, I got that too! I couldn't find many academic awards, so in that respect I think it helped. Having an award that says you're the best social science/humanities student at your school can't be bad. Plus, if you're applying to U of R, you're eligible for a nice scholarship.

hmmm. thanks guys!

Yeah, I got that last year. I'm pretty sure its an award given to the best science student grade-wise in each of the participating schools. I'm not entirely sure, but if that is true, I would imagine it would be a good thing to put down, especially for science and engineering schools, to show that you excel in science amongst your peers. I put it down wherever I could.
