Baylor Class of 2018

Just got an acceptance billboard on the goBaylor account! So excited and thrilled! Share your Baylor stories down below! Anyone else who got accepted!

I’ve been accepted as well! I applied Early Action, and saw that billboard 2-3 weeks later. I’ve gotten my scholarship announcement, but not the official letter saying that I’ve been accepted? Is anyone else having this problem, and what does the mailed acceptance look like/say in it?

You will get a mail soon. You don’t have to worry.

Congratulations Sampoww22! I’m waiting for the mail as well! I think it would take at least 2 weeks for the mail to arrive! How did you get your scholarship announcement! I haven’t received my scholarship announcement! I just looked up at the scholarship calculator but didn’t get any formal message!
Not worrying Dad, just excited! I had to log out and log back in 5 times to actually start believing that they didn’t mess my application with somebody elses!

Ahmedcop, it’s been way over 2 weeks since the billboard has shown up. On the billboard, it said that my acceptance came with $56,000 to be divided over 4 years. And that more information would be coming in the mail soon. A mailed announcement came last week saying I was awarded that much, and that more information would be on it’s way soon. Are you sure you qualify for one of the scholarships?

Nope, I didn’t actually get a scholarship with my acceptance. But I did check the scholarship calculator and I am eligible for Presidential Scholarship. I dont understand why it wasnt there, considering my SAT score was 1340 (C.R+Math)! Oh well… what do you plan on majoring in? I’m looking at Biology (pre med).

I also got scholarship from Baylor as well. That information was available almost right away. I got accepted like 48 hours after applying and got the scholarship money the next day. The actual mail came like 2 to 3 weeks after that.

Good luck everyone.

ahmedcorp13, that is weird… I think you should check in with Baylor. That calculator is very accurate. I got 1400 (M&R) and will get $17,000 annually.

WAO ekmy! Congratulations on your acceptance and scholarship! Yah I’ll check in with Baylor! Their admission advisor is honestly the coolest guy I’ve ever had an online contact with! $17000 is a lot! Congrats again!

Anyone hear been to Baylor? How is the college life? I have a cousin there and she absolutely loves it! Although I’m not sure about its pre-med courses!

ahmedcop13, I was just there this Tuesday. I’m from westcoast so this was my first trip to Texas. It was AWESOME! especially since we visited after their big football game. I’m also a premed major and had a really good meeting with premed coordinator.

I hope to get into their Health and Science LLC for housing.

Ahmed, I’m actually looking to major in Bio with pre med as well, like seemingly everyone else on this thread!

Ekmy, more details on your visit???

Its funny cuz I’m from the east coast! I’m genetically engineered to hate everything except Manhattan! Is it true that everythings bigger in Texas? Wao, too many pre meds here! And yah, like Sampoww said “more details please”! I love Baylor but the only downside I see as a pre med is the limited choice of voluntary work. Waco is pretty small town and I’m not sure whether I could find doctors to shadow, or research opportunities to work on! As I’m sure you guys know, its pretty important for us pre-meds! Are you guys looking at other schools as well?

Hello!
I applied 2 hours before it became November 2nd under Early Action, and received a decision on November 3rd via GoBaylor. I got a letter and certificate a week later. I got $68,000 over 4 years. Baylor keeps sending me letters and calling me to remind me to pay my deposit, it’s kind of getting on my nerves now.

I’m looking to major in bioinformatics. Maybe premed, although I don’t think my record in high school shows that I’m cut out for that sort of work.

Why the hell is everyone getting more scholarship than I am?? This sucks. Btw congrats quiddi! I haven’t received any letter at this moment in time but I did get a free shirt from Baylor! Dont know if that helps? You dont have to worry about you record in high school. Start fresh in college, and hopefully you’ll get somewhere. You must be some special kind of student since they keep calling you! Anyway I suck in high school! SAT isn’t good, no distinctions or extra-curricular but I do have all As in high school! But yah, I wont let my high school keep me from reaching my dreams! Im gonna start college and start fresh and study like crazy to make sure I get in med school.

Ahmed, I wouldn’t worry too much about not being able to find things to do, is it Dallas and Austin that are about an hour and a half away?

And quidditch, that’s amazing! But I’m kind of the same way. If my heart takes me elsewhere, I will follow it, but pre med is what I’m thinking as of now!

I’m also looking at a school with a student faculty ratio of 1:1, and a school that I could potentially get a full tuition scholarship at! I’m screwed!

Sampoww - Campus was alot bigger than I expected. It was relly clean and well kept. Oh and I was reallly suprised to see that Baylor actually do have live bears on campus. Student activity building was epic! It has a giant tower of rock climing wall and a olympic size pool with slide. Students on campus looked very happy (maybe too happy given this was a dead week) and everyone had Baylor sweatshirts on.

The science building (for all those pre-med majors), is their newest building on campus. Few housings we saw, were not the best. One was really dark and the other one was kinda old. But there are newer housings avilable, they just couldn’t show it to us. We also ate at their newer cafeteria, East Village. Food was better than what I expected, but it was just okay.

Hope this helps.

@ahmedcop13, Please do not be discouraged by others’ scholarship info. As you stated, you can restart. High school SAT/GPA/ECs are just for college entrance. Next level of your adventure of life (job/graduate schools/med- or law- schoold) will be based on your performance/learnings in college. The forum is just for information sharing to have a mutual benefit. You can use this forum to motivate yourself in college.

Ekmy- Did the religious scene feel overwhelming? And did you hear/see anything on classes?

1:1 faculty Sam, may I suggest home-schooling! But I guess you’re looking for a small school! Baylor is by no means, small! It is, when you compare it to large public schools! But what you’re looking for is schools like Rice! Yah, both cities are an hour away! but the cost of going there and living there wont be worth it, at least not for me! I am looking at University of Houston, its a pretty large school and only minutes away from the largest medical center in the world! I also have a house in Houston so I could live there so save money! The only downside I see the lack of prestige! But I have done enough research to make the statement “med schools do not care about prestige of your undergrad institution”! Also my dream med schools are Baylor and UT Houston. I could get to know their doctors and that might help in my admission when it comes to it, HOPEFULLY! Don’t worry about being screwed, we’re all in the same boat.

ekmy- Wao, Baylor sounds cool!

Dad- Thank you! Thats what I tell myself too. It’s a fresh start. Make sure I don’t make the same mistakes I made in high school! I’m not discouraged, just sad! But oh well, past is past! Forget and move on!

Baylor is a christian school! But don’t let that stop you from going there! You do have to attend mandatory chapel classes. You could just sleep through them. Thats what my cousin does! But the people there are very tolerant and they don’t shove their beliefs down your throat!
