For those who applied, now we are in the waiting game. I believe we are supposed to be notification on interview status should be released by November 19.
Doe anyone know how competitive this is? How many applicants/ recipients per year?
They picked 2 recipients for the class of 2022 so it is highly competitive.
Thanks sab2023! Wow 2. Do they select the two based on standardized scores? ec? and interview? any idea?
Well I think you need to have a 1500 SAT or 34 ACT to qualify, and you have to submit a three minute video essay and teacher emails for recommendations. Other than that, I really have no idea what they judge on. My guess is that they pick finalists to interview based on the video essay performance, and then they choose from the finalists. My DD has a 34 and she submitted her video essay on November 6.
@sab2023 Only 2 people! I thought it would be 10-20. Where did you get this information?
Nevermind, I found the article.

I applied as well and can not wait to find out! How many are selected for interview?
@queennadia01 I’m not sure about the number interviewed. Are they informing us on November 19 or just by November 19? I’m nervous and excited at once!
If they are doing it anything like I2E, then they will inform you on November 19, most likely in the afternoon.
Have any of you heard back about your Getterman Scholarship status? I’m wondering if they are just sending all the status notifications tomorrow.
If history holds true it will show up in your GoBaylor portal later today.
I didn’t get an interview ;/
I didn’t get an interview either Hopefully, I get luckier with other scholarships I applied for. I wish everyone who got an interview luck!
If anyone wants to know how this scholarship played out (so far) this year, 30 students made the initial cut after 400 applied (my daughter was one), they announced this last weekend during the interview process. They said they plan to award 4 scholarships this year. We will be told by March 1st. Many of those in Getterman scholarship competition also stayed for the Invitation to Excellence event, which was absolutely huge this year (960 students for the January event!). Pres. Livingstone said they didn’t wish to restrict the attendance, but give everyone a chance, so they divided them into two groups and had them switching off on activities. They also said they doubled the number of faculty scholarships for this (to 16 full tuition for the January group), but odds are a bit low for that one!
@nmsciencemom I would love to ask you some questions about your daughter’s experience at the Getterman Scholar’s weekend last year. I am not sure if I can PM you.
