My daughter is auditioning at Baylor tomorrow (choir). She will be a freshman. Does anyone know if they admit students into the music school right away or if they wait until after all audition dates?
No idea. But in general it’s rare to get an offer at an audition. Sometimes a teacher or committee may give you a pretty strong indication of interest. Still it’s always best to wait for a written acceptance (even while feeling good and confident from the warm and fuzzies).
Schools/teachers/dept can differ on these indications. Some are tight lipped. Some are not. So it is best to try not to read into things (even though you will). Just have her do her best and be patient…no matter what rumors you hear.
Note it is appropriate for a parent to ask about expectations on communications for acceptances. Are they a school that does rolling admissions? Or do they wait and release on one day? It is best to know (for your sanity). So feel free to ask.
And…good luck to her!!!
Great information! Thank you!
@maseman, my daughter (string player) auditioned at Baylor in early December 2016 and heard back before the new year. Music scholarship info came in March. Best of luck!
