So I auditioned for TxState University and received a letter yesterday saying that I had a good auditon but that my acceptance could not be currently determined. Also, before I receive notification on my acceptance status, I will be re-evaluated as in "fairness to all applicants"
My question is, should I be concerned and consider this as a "waiting list" or a decline? I am honestly confused since I did have a very good audition AND met with a trumpet professor before hand (to ensure that I enjoyed the prive lesson experience). Should I be extremely concered? I feel like freaking out, since this IS my first choice school.

Sounds to me like a wait list situation - are auditions over? My guess is they probably have only so many open slots in your instrument, and have some people ranked ahead of you on the list. If they don’t get the acceptances they want from that list, they may make you an offer. My suggestion is to contact that professor you took a lesson from directly via e-mail, let him know it’s your first choice, and ask for some clarification without the emotion attached…

Call them and ask. It’s not clear, and I’m sure they can explain it to your satisfaction. Why wonder? Or freak out when you don’t have to?
