BB Math problems questions

Page 531 #5 can someone please explain to me how to solve the equation. I got the two side measurements to be 4 and then the formula is 1/2BH but I don't know how to finish it.

Then Page 532 #8 I don't understand how to do that one at all.

All help is appreciated, thank you.

lucky you, i just finished this section.

p. 531, #5:
first of all you don't need the two side measurements b/c ur finding area.
Thus, your just finding AC and the height which can easily be seen as 4.

height = 4
base = (5k-2k) = 3k

= 1/2 * 4 * 3k
= 2*3k
= 6k
6k = 18 ; k = 3. pwned.

8, i got wrong. but its easy as ****.

its a parabola, so one side of the parabola has an equal side.

so they give u f(3) and they want you to find b.

if f(3) is = to that point on the right side of the parabola, f(b) is on the complete opposite side.

f(b) = -1

assuming u know functions..... which u should.

oh wow, very easy thanks for the help. I think i got thrown off on #8 because they weren't labeled and thats what I am used to. Thanks for the help.

yeah no problem. thats what this forum is for, giving help and receving help.
