ACT: C:30 M:31 R: 30 E: 29 S: 27
SAT: 1950 (not submitting prob)
SAT II: 640 USH
GPA: 91.5 (6 of like 15 APs offered) Lots of honors too
ECs: REALLY GOOD Like, a 10/10…too much leadership to list. (national champion in debate, and huge leader in the school)
Essay: 8.5/10 + 8.5/10 (common app + supps)
Recs: 9/10 + 9/10
School: Private Prep- Rich place with good name
Chance me for: Bates, BC, Colgate, Lehigh, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Northwestern,

The good news is that you don’t have to submit scores to apply to Wesleyan (where you would be above the 25th percentile, but still on the lower end of the spectrum). Know tht BC, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Bates, and Northwestern are all slightly harder to get into than Colgate, and much harder to get into than Lehigh. You should consider applying ED2 to a school, especially if you want a good shot.

This is just my opinion!

Bates is test-optional as well, but it is quite selective.

What is your ACT composite?
Yeah these are all decent LACs, competitive and selective
I think whichever is your favorite you should definitely apply ED(2). These are also definitely schools that you should show interest to- visit, stay overnight, do an interview, stay in contact with admissions, etc. Colgate and Lehigh are more likely for you, Hamilton closely follows. Bates, Wesleyan and Northwestern will all be slightly reaches for you. Good Luck!!

Disagree that BC and Hamilton are lightly harder to get into than Colgate. Admissions data/stats would seem to suggest precisely the opposite. Colgate average scores are a notch higher.

Median 50 percent SAT scores
Colgate CR 620/720, Math 650/730
Hamilton CR 640/730, Math 660/740

I know someone who was waitlisted at Colgate with 29 ACT, good EC’s. So you have a shot, but if you really want to go their consider EDII or really focus on your essay and hope for good recommendations. Lehigh you have a better chance than Colgate, but it could still go either way. If there is one school you are 95% sure you want to go to then I would do EDII because it helps a lot with small LAC’s. chance back please <a href=“Chances: Bucknell, Lehigh, F&M, Berkeley.
Sorry, I’m only really familiar with Northwestern, so I can only speak to that. I think Northwestern will be a reach for you. I would classify it as a high reach based on your ACT, but your ECs do seem to be impressive. Being a national champion in debate will add a lot to your application, but it’s hard to say how much it will offset your test scores for Northwestern. Maybe try retaking the ACT one more time and aiming for 32+ to maximize your chances. Best of luck!!

Yes, not sure where some posters get their numbers.
@Sue22’s accurate figures with Boston College included (CR+M 25th-75th percentile):
- Hamilton: 1300-1470
- Boston College: 1270-1450
- Colgate: 1270-1450
@APsooof: Your academics and standardized testing will be neutral to (somewhat) negative for most of your 7 listed colleges. (Which just means that these are very selective colleges.) But you have a chance of rolling in, on the strength of your debating and leadership, to four or more of them. Good luck.

Make that: “for some of your seven listed colleges.”
Btw, Do your exclamation points apply to your title in general, or Northwestern in particular?
For some reason Bates is elevated in selectivity on this thread by a couple of posters. Of the seven colleges, Bates and Lehigh are the only ones that receive a “more selective” designation by USNWR. The remaining colleges are all designated “most selective.”
I appreciate your insight @merc81
@APsooof: Wishing you continued success. I hope you find a good match among your acceptances. (They’ll probably be worth another thread at that time.)
