BC Concerns

How is the Chemistry department?

How this the Math Department?

Can anyone explain: http://www..com/MA/Boston_College.html
According to the Pie Chart, many would not return…

I don't have any personal knowledge about the chemistry department, but it is my understanding that it is one of BC's strongest departments.

My son is a math major at BC and did quite a bit of research about the math department before deciding to attend. The department has a strong reputation (particularly in the Northeast) and several of the professors are very well-known, but obviously, it is not as strong as schools that offer a PhD in math. (BC only offers masters degrees.) Nevertheless, the course offerings in math are surprisingly broad AND deep.

I would not put a whole lot of stock in what you see on that other website, since the people most likely to post there are people who are unhappy about something. If so "many would not return", how do you explain the fact that 95% of BC's freshmen return for their sophomore year? It seems to me that they would transfer to another school -- rather than pay $50,000+ a year to be unhappy at BC!
