BC Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

Also rejected …as were all 4 of the friends I mentioned above! That’s what. 25% admit rate looks like…we are in good company. Let’s enjoy the rest of the journey…!

No, nothing we can think of that would have prevented it. She has strong ECs and service.

Wow. Have been following stats of admits last few years as a senior.Toured this summer. I have similar stats 4.0,4.65,1/200,15DE and thought last year was an eye opener until yesterday. Makes me wonder how RD is going to shake out with the stats of kids deferred. Good luck with the process. I’m in state NC so UNC is a great option but liked the idea of BCs direct admit business, just not enough to go ED.

DD got into BC ED1 last year. We came to the conclusion that if you want to go to be BC, you almost have to apply ED. Fortunately, we were in a position financially where she was able to apply ED - I know it’s not an option for many. I wish it wasn’t like this, but there it is.

Agree. You could see stats last year and admissions literally giving you cues that the difference in acceptance rates are significant. Believe its a domino effect. T20 schools are 10% accept rate.kids being strategic and ED to BC and others now increasing their chances. RD anywhere is now mixed with waitlist kids that are amazing. Interesting time. Feel appreciative to live in a state with a T30 public.

For those that got in, were you given 4 years housing? My daughter’s letter gave her four, and I’m wondering if that is standard now. I know for long time most juniors had to live off campus.

From the BC website:

“The majority of Boston College students receive three years of guaranteed housing. Sophomore transfer students receive one year of guaranteed housing, while nursing students, Presidential Scholars, and certain student-athletes receive four years of guaranteed housing.”

My kid got in ED last year and was given 4 years of housing, but she is not a nursing student, presidential scholar, or a student athlete. I’m not sure how they decide which students get four years and which get thee.

How do you see your housing package?

Typically the acceptance letter would specify 3 vs 4 yrs of guaranteed housing.

Does this mean it’s gonna be really hard for me to get in? I was deferred ED to the regular round…

My daughter was accepted to the Business School and her letter also said she was assigned four years of campus housing as well!

Our college counselor was told by BC admissions this week that ED1 applicants were up 50% vs last year and they accepted 27% of ED1 applicants vs ~40% last year. The math suggests while the number of applicants went up considerably, they admitted the same absolute number of students.

The last sentence of the second paragraph of our son’s acceptance letter says “please note that you have been assigned four years of campus housing.”

It was in her acceptance letter

My son also in the business school was only given 3 years of campus housing. So interesting how they pick who receives 3 vs. 4

Has the financial aid award letter been released yet? I can’t find mine anywhere.

my son was accepted into arts and sciences and was given 3 years.

When our son was a BC a few years back, getting 3 years of housing turned out to be a great experience for him and his friends.

They got a big house that slept about 8, and then found 16 roommates. 8 of the roommates studied abroad in the fall semester, and the other 8 studied abroad during the spring semester.

The personal growth learning that he and his friends got was pretty amazing. They worked together to find the house, to line up all the utilities, to pay the rent and utilities, and learned to deal with housemates who left the heat up during the days, or who were late on rent payments, or who left common areas a mess. They definitely learned a lot about life and all said they’re glad they did it.

And then they all return to campus for their senior year. It’s the “place to be” for seniors, especially the Mods.

I would not worry about 3 years of housing. They will rise to it.
