I wonder - i have no idea how that works…so strange!
My son was admitted to the business school and received 4 years of housing as well. Does this mean you have to live on campus all 4 years?
Yes, a college counselor in my area told me the same - they said their ED 1 pool saw significant growth this year, 2,940 applicants (a 50% increase) but that despite the growth, they elected not to increase the number of offers they will extend during ED. They said they are committed to leaving ample space in the class for students from future rounds. They said they will admit approximately 800 ED 1 applicants (which is basically the same number they did last year during ED1)
That is a good question- I would also love to know the answer!
No, if you receive 4 years housing, you do not have to live on campus all four years. D20, and her roommates have decided to live off campus next year. Some of them have 4 years housing, but they all decided to live together off campus next year.
4 years housing is typically given to the top 10-15% of applicants in addition to nurses, and some athletes. It is typically viewed as a type of merit as BC does not offer merit scholarships outside of the Gabelli Scholars program.
Thank you! Good to know!
Does anyone know how many CSOM students BC takes during ED and each year?
My guess is about 200+/-
According to the BC Facebook about 24% of students are enrolled in CSOM. If around 800 students were admitted during this round of ED, probably somewhere around 200 of those were accepted into CSOM. Just my guess, however.
Did anyone hear yet about financial aid? Info was not updated in the link. Our son was accepted yesterday ED.
I haven’t heard about it either… I wonder when we will get the notice
did it come out today dec 3rd that is what it says
Thanks for the info you’ve provided - all helpful! Curious, so will your daughter be a junior next year when she lives off campus? Sounded like from another poster that is typically the year they go off and then seniors want to be back on? I actually like the sounds of that…seems like a good way to keep the seniors engaged with the campus!
Yes, D20 will be a junior next year when she lives off campus. It is a long standing BC tradition for seniors to return back to campus senior year after living off campus junior year and most do just that. BC has an office of off campus housing to help students navigate the process.
D did her BA/MA at BC. Typically many students study abroad jr year. She and her friends had a house off campus jr year, and she spent fall semester there, then went abroad spring semester. She sublet her room to a friend spring semester, who had been studying abroad fall semester. In other words, 2 friends with opposite study abroad semesters split the room. The reunion of all seniors coming back to campus senior year is a great tradition they enjoy.
Similar: mine got in RD last year(but went somewhere else), is not any of those things, but got 4yr housing. She was , however, high stats kid compared to typical admits and had some very unique Ec, essays, and great LORs. For RD the wording certainly made it seem related to positive factors on the application but who knows how they decide.
Oh! I did not know that officially but thought it might be. Helpful in retrospect!
A bit off topic: I see a lot of folks noting they had great LOC’s. Are teachers and counselors sharing their LOC’s with students or are people just assuming the LOC’s were great based on conversations with the teachers/counselors?
Oops - And by LOC’s, I mean LOR’s!
I always wonder that as well. In our case- we have no idea and my kid was basically remote junior year with asynchronous learning (with school only 4 days a week, Mondays being homeroom check- in for 10 mins!) so I worry about it.
With my niece, my sister told me that during parent/teacher conferences, the teacher told my sister she was so excited and honored to write a letter of recommendation, so I am assuming it will be a good one!
