BC or AB Calculus?

ExplorerCY, I'm a parent, and neither of my older kids attend(ed) a high school that offered AB and BC as a sequence. It was a choice, and given the way mathematics courses are structured at those high schools, yes, it's sensible for the choice to be either/or.

But your statement "smart kids take BC" doesn't apply everywhere, and some people reading this thread might appreciate knowing that.

fine, smart kids also take AB (i mean its calc!) but BC is more challenging.

Smart kids take calculus. Kids who particularly like or are good at math take the harder version of calculus.

It's really not that complicated and anyone who decides to take AB calculus has nothing to be ashamed of.

My school does not do that, so it's sort of funny to hear someone jumping to Calc BC. I'm a sophomore finishing Pre-Cal, so there isn't really a point for me to go to Calc BC and not have a math senior year. That is how it works in my school.

Yes, I'm lucky that at Andover I can do Calc BC and still have tonnes to do. I'd have Linear Algebra and Multivariable Vector Functions of Calc and then I have Honours Math (which is like uni theories like Chaos Theory and Number Theory and some incredibly absurd stuff that I have no chance at withstanding).
