Bcs Standings

We Drop To 10.....

Boise State To 8

Michigan To 3

Usc To 2

Even Though We Are Not In Top 8.. I Still Think The Sugar Bowl Will Take Us

Since I'm tired of homework I'll break down the BCS situation for everyone.

It looks like Ohio State vs. USC is nearly a lock in the national championship.

The conference champions then go to their respective tie-ins. Oklahoma/Nebraska to the Fiesta Bowl, Wake Forest/Georgia Tech to the Orange Bowl, and Florida/Arkansas to the Sugar Bowl.

Since the Rose Bowl will loose both their conference champion tie-ins to the NCG, they receive the first two at-large picks. They will certainly pick Michigan with the first one. A UM-Notre Dame rematch isn't likely and I doubt they stay in the Pac-10 as Cal isn't all that intriguing. A team from the SEC is most likely. Possibly Florida if they loose to Arkansas, but I think LSU is the most likely choice.

So that's Michigan vs. LSU in the Rose Bowl.

The third at-large selection goes to the Sugar Bowl. This is Notre Dame's best shot. The runner up in the Big 12 (especially if it's Oklahoma), possibly Texas, the Big East champion (Rutgers/Louisville), and Cal as an extreme longshot are all other possibilities. Notre Dame will sell a lot of tickets and make people turn on their TVs, so from a financial stand point ND is a good choice. So we're probably looking at Florida/Arkansas vs. Notre Dame.

The Orange Bowl gets the fourth at-large pick. The Big East champion will likely play here. If the Sugar Bowl selects from the Big East, then Notre Dame, a Big 12 runner up, Cal, or an SEC runner up (if not in the Rose Bowl) will get the bid. I'd say Georgia Tech/Wake Forest vs. Louisville/Rutgers.

The last at-large selection goes to the Fiesta Bowl. Boise State will automaticaly qualify for the BCS since they are the highest ranked non-BCS conference team in the top 12 and because they will be ranked higher than the champion from the ACC. Since they are obviously the least desirable team for a bowl to pick, the Fiesta will be stuck with them. Boise State vs. Nebraska/Oklahoma.

So to wrap up lol, Notre Dame's best shot is in the Sugar Bowl, but don't be surprised if they get snubbed. They've only played 3 good teams, and have been blown out by 2 of them. An Orange Bowl bid is a possibility, but in the end I think they may have to settle for the Gator Bowl.
