Beat Coast Guard!!!!!

LFWB dad, while both Kean and CGA are in a rebuilding mode, one would like to think the Mariners bested worthy opponents based on merit, not on a mismatch. In fact, Kean also won today 21-13 against Franklin & Marshall in their 2nd outing.
Naval Academy has a tradition: always root for your opponent, especially Army, except when you are playing against them.
Am I wrong in assuming that Kings Point has the same tradition?
By the way, how do you do that "Quote:" thing?

I always root for CGA when they are not playing KP. It doesn't mean they are not dogs. I would love for CGA to be 10-1 with the one loss being to KP.

Coach Toop is doing a great job and the KP team is getting better.

But as I have said before, CGA should be embarassed beyond all recognition to lose to KP in anything given that its athletes can stay together all off season which is a huge advantage over KP. There is no telling how good KP teams could be if they didn't have to go to sea.

Last year LFWB was able to work out with the team everyday from after Indoc throughout the season. This year he will start working out with the team two weeks before the first tournament. While facilities on ships are good, its not like the facilities at the Academy and having teammates around to keep you motivated.

The quote thing is done by putting the word quote between [ ] at the front of what you want to highlight and putting /quote betweem the [ ] at the end of the words you want to highlight as a quote.

I will do it misspelling "quote" to show you what it looks like.

Copy what you want to quote and paste it n the box

then put the bracketed words in front and back

[quoet] I root for CGA even though they are dogs[/quoet]
I root for CGA even though they are dogs
Copy what you want to quote and paste it n the box
just trying it out

its quote /quote inside brackets

will try again....thanks

CGA Crew swept their counterparts from USMMA today in the Coastweeks Regatta in Mystic, CT.

Yesterday the CGA hosted the MMA kids at a picnic at a local beach. Very good sportsmanship shown by all.

I went to the Kings Point, Dickerson football game yesterday and the Mariners not only had to play Dickinson but also the refs. Dickinson did not get called for a penalty untill late in the 3rd Quarter, were as Kings Point had a total of 10 penalties for 110 yards. Another setback was that Kings Point was running a spread offense that was only practiced for the first time this week. Towards the 4th Quarter the pass attack started working but the Mariners could not get a break from the refs. One Touch down pass to a receiver was called back for Offensive pass interference (the receiver never touched the defender and I was walking pass the end Zone at the time) and another series of plays the receiver's catch was called incomplete after the line judge standing beside him through his hands up in the air for a touchdown. Talk about home field advantage. As far as the fans go, there were more Kings Point fans there than Dickinson fans.

repIII, good thing I wasn't there to witness...

Heh... Something told me that CG was gonna rule the day. Congrats. Hope they feed our Mids well! Hope we get some pictures sometime Boss. (Hint Hint) They were awesome last year.

P.S. GO KP Beat CG :)

I am not certain what it is like at rowing regattas, nor at the college level, but over the years of sailing regattas the kids compete agressively on the water and when off the water, let the fun and games and socializing begin!

That sense of commoraderie off the water was what the kids looked forward to more than the actual racing itself

KPMom you are correct. The kids get along well off the water. It's a shared experience and they know how hard each other works. I got to speak with Coach Ward who is a very nice guy. He said they are trying to upgrade the crew team which in the past was very successful. Apparently they don't get funding from the athletics dept...waterfront is funded separately. But anyway here's a link to pictures. It was held at the beautiful Mystic Seaport and Museum. I got a few mids in there.

Very nice pictures. Reminds me that the days of summer are fastly fleeting too.

What a great sport to keep one fit, trim, enhance cardiovascular health as well as compete and socialize. I loved all the smiling faces on the beautiful young men and women.

One of the things that really impressed me on our parent's weekend, is the quality of the young people that attend the USMMA, I am certain you find the same thing at USCGA. They are our finest.

You are so correct about the kids. All are polite, appreciative of what you do for them, and cheerful. It's a pleasure to be among them at an event like this!

BTW I meant to say Coach Hartwick, head coach of MMA Crew...sorry about that.

haha crew.....

Wot's that supposed to mean...check out the guns on this kid.

<a href="http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bossf51/detail?.dir=583dre2&.dnm=377are2.jpg&.src=ph%5B/url%5D">http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bossf51/detail?.dir=583dre2&.dnm=377are2.jpg&.src=ph</a></p>

It's a tough, grueling sport which not every kid could do...your mom's gonna whoop you...:D

Oh wow. Bet he could pick up a volkswagon with one hand. LOL I wasn't playin' when I'd said I knew Coasties would rule the day. They have secret weapons...
And I thought we only "whooped" down here in the south.

Boss, thanks for the pics. My son is on the crew team. He started out on the off shore sailing team but wanted something more challenging. He called several times Saturday and Sunday to tell me what a great time he was having. Crew is new to me and my hubby. My hubby was a dinghy sailor. So we have a lot of learning to do. My son said there will be pics of the KP team later this week.

dinghy sailors and crew dont mix....two separate blocks of wood...

OK Kp10 I get it.

Kp8210 I was going to take more pictures of MMA but my batteries died. They had a big group of kids on hand.

Did your son like the picnic? I heard they had great food.

Here's a good link to info about crew in general.
<a href="http://www.ruf.rice.edu/%7Ecrew/rowingfaq.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~crew/rowingfaq.html</a></p>

Boss, thanks again. This is great info. I want to sound intelligent when we talk about the regattas and all. It's a little different from sailing.

He didn't say much about the food. He was too busy admiring the Coastie girls. :)

USMMA football takes on Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) today at 6pm at Kings Point. WPI has won its first 2 games of the season and had a 6-3 season last year including a 28-21 win against USMMA.

Watch the Mariners live on your computer:
