Beaten to death, I know: housing, social climate at NYU

So, I've been accepted to GSP, and having just overcome the stigma attached to GSP, I've become so excited about NYU. I know so little about the dorms though, but which of the dorms is the least "typical beer keg party" dorm (if that exists at NYU, I'm sure it does)? Is that what Hayden is like? Which of them is closest to the Washington Square area? I know NYU is diverse, and I'm not the square peg who doesn't like to party, but I'm more of a, let's go to a small cafe, discuss politics/music/sex, and then hit up a small concert in the village, kind of person. Sigh. I have a feeling NYU is going to be full of the super-pretentious art types. lol, boy do I seem like one from this thread.

Oh yea, I know the orientation is in late August, but are there any 'get togethers' earlier?

Theres SAFE rooms if you want to be away from drugs and alcohol. NYU is heavy party, drinking, smoking school from what I hear, so if your worried about that I'd go with the SAFE room. Hayden has the best social/party scene from what ive heard.
