Before I humiliate myself, I want your opinion

Background Info:
I just got wait listed at UVa, my first choice school. WLs are typically huge, and I don't expect much from a simple letter.

Proposition:
So, being the eccentric that I am, I was thinking about creating a little booklet about how much I love UVa, why I messed up on my essays, and how much I have improved since the first round. This wouldn't be some cheesy pictorial, but a pamphlet with a casual tone in which I can let my uniqueness and UVa zeal shine like... well, something bright.

Is this an absolutely idiotic idea? Should I just stick to desperate letters and e-mails?

I think you should move onto a different school to love.

Ah, randombetch, then you don't know me very well. When I fall in love, I fall very hard, and I am VERY stubborn (sardonic smile).

I know that this isn't going to make a difference, but I'd love to do it, if only for the heck of it. If it somehow did, then HALLUJAH! That's even better.

Why not? The worst they could do is send you back an envelope containing ashes with a note saying "We read your pamphlet. Guess what we did with it?" lol.

I know you want to stand out, but I would talk to your Guidance Counselor about the pamphlet. Have your counselor call the school in order to express interest on your behalf. Also, send them anything you have accomplished (in either academics or ECs) since you sent your app. and send in extra recommendations if possible.

If you're intent on the pamphlet, I would talk it over with your counselor first.

do it if you want. it's a lot of time and effort that will most likely be wasted

sorry but the chances of you getting off the wait list at UVA are slim to none- it's nothing personal and you are a qualified applicant; there was just such an overwhelming amount of applications this year that there was no way they could accept everyone. my advice is to go on the wait-list and send in a couple things saying why they should accept you, and then fall in love with whatever school you pay your deposit to. being stubborn won't help you very much at this point. i don't mean to be a big downer, but this year sucks for college applications, and it's not your fault.

sincerely,
someone who has been wait-listed at 5 schools :)

Usually anything that looks gimmicky and makes your file thicker will not help win over admission committees. They've seen it all. Harvard had a hilarious story last year at one of the Exploring College Options sessions about a guy who had a hobby of taxidermy and who sent a stuffed squirrel to the admission office. That didn't get him in.

this is an "idiotic idea," They won't take u seriously...
