I just read a post of yours about Transfer application, you said to wait a month? I just want to make sure that is right, because I was going to apply soon to hopefully show my level of commitment to transferring to UVa.

I think it'd be nice to wait about two weeks to mail documents since our staff has piles of first year apps and documents to process and file.

We don't see the date of your application when we review it. Filling out the app is a good indicator of interest...we don't try to draw conclusions based on the time of submission.

Another question for Dean J- (or anyone else who wants to chime in)

Is there a recommended length for the 'why are you transferring/why UVa' question in the tranfer supplement part of the app.? I was thinking a page or two, but I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance. Thanks.

All of my essays were generally 1-2 pages in Word, 12 font Times Roman. Some were closer to a page, but my "why" I took the full 2 pages.
Be very concise and to the point of why you want to transfer, don't just ramble. You should be able to fit it all in. And be truthful/speak from the heart. UVA is great school and adcoms know this...remember that when you're doing your essays! You should really be answering "why is UVA a great fit for me?"...or, THE fit.

PS- to the OP: I submitted a day out from the deadline. USE YOUR TIME!! Don't rush to get it in, instead, use it to think about everything/work on your essays. You'll show MUCH more interest if your essays are superb, rather than the early submit date that they'll never see.

Thanks, shoebox. According to your advice, I seem to be right on point, which is def. nice to hear. If only I could stop worrying and speculating about this crap...
