beginner guitar classes

I am a freshman at USC and have never touched a guitar in my life. However, I would really love to learn it on a serious level. I'm majoring in business, and I'm not planning to go into music in the future. I'd just really love to learn the guitar, blues guitar specifically.

What would be the best way to go about learning guitar on campus? Keep in mind I'm not majoring or minoring in music. I've heard there are 3 beginner guitar classes...has anyone taken these? How good are they? Are they worth taking? I'm thinking of taking these 3 classes, then maybe getting private lessons? Where would I get private lessons on campus?

I want to stress again...I've never picked up a guitar in my life. So what do you think? Is taking the 3 beginner guitar classes worth it?

Son had very little guitar experience and took MPGU-120D Beginning Pop/Rock Guitar just for fun. It was very tough but he was willing to work hard and practice a lot. He took a private lesson from the instructor during that time in order to keep up with the class. He really enjoyed it and continues to practice on his own.

There are several Jazz & Studio Guitar majors willing to teach private beginning guitar lessons. Just send me a private message and I will send you their contact information.
