Do you know anything about these residential high schools? My son is an American high school student who has just been offered a scholarship to study at one of these schools for a year. We know nothing about residential schools in China and wonder what it would be like.

Definitely SJTUHS, which ranked top 4 in Shanghai. BJ No.90? Seriously? I have never heard about this school and it can’t be ranked in top 10 in Beijing.

Okay, my son got his assignment today. It is Beijing High School #80, not 90. It does have a small website so I could find some information. It is still a little difficult to imagine. What stands out most to me is how regulated his life will be compared to life as an American high school student. I hope he likes it.

Beijing #80 is a among the top in BJ, not the top 10 though because BJ has the best edu resources in china. I agree with aaron024 that he should attend the SJTUHS. It does not only rank high, but also is more open because it’s in SH. China is not as boring as you think, just let him be open(:

Thank you for your replies. I’ve now had a few months to get used to the idea. My son did not get to choose schools. He was assigned to Beijing #80 but I think it will be fine. He’s looking forward to arriving in China in September.

Then I can only congrats him on entering this great school and welcome him to my city. He will sure have fantastic experience here(:
